  1. Nowadays, commercially fluff is sold for hamster bedding but my vet has always advised me against using fluff since it has the consistency of cotton and cotton normally has the problem of getting entangled in the hamster cheek pouches, can cause impacted cheek pouches or result in hair ball condition. The reason being hamsters have a habit of stuffing bedding into their cheek pouches for shifting from one place to another in the cage.

However, it is upto your discretion, since I know of many people who use fluff and have not faced any problems so far.

  2. No they can get it tangled around them or eat it and cause serious harm.  Just use unscented toilet paper or paper towels instead.

  3. no, it can get tangled around them. many products say theyre 'safe' such as pine cedar that arent. so, just stick to  something softer and safer like carefresh =]

  4. It's definitly NOT 100% safe. Hamsters can get tangled in it and sometimes even ingest it, causing blockage in there instestines. This is what I used for my hamsters:

It's not as rough as wood shavings and also not as dangerous as fluff.

    :]

  5. Yes, It is horrible for your hamsters, it is loaded with chemicals. Your hamster could also get tangled up with the cotton like bedding. They are very harmful to your hamster. The best bedding is Aspen wood shavings , they don't have all the chemicals like pine and cedar do. I have heard carefrsh is good, but It is manmade so i think it has chemicals. If you want your hamster to just have a soft bed/ den/ nest you can put some toliet paper in the  cage, they will make a nice soft bed out of it. Hope this helps!

  6. My hamster loved it.  I would just put a little bit into her cage at a time and change it out often as it got dirty.  Don't use a lot of it because after they get done chewing it up and fluffing it up the way they want, a little goes a long way.  Mine would take it into her bed box and make it all fluffy and into a kind of nest.  She loved it.
