Is London 2012 going to be taken over by GB Football ?

Its all over the papers about Beckham and Harry Redknapp jumping on the Olympic bandwagon, in offering help for a successful GB football team, I think this is a big joke, we fail at every major tournament in football (if we even get there), football in our country gets enough publicity and they have their chance to play in enough tournaments, so why do we need to make a big deal about having a team in London, it will end up overshadowing what our athletes are doing, some whose only occasion in the limelight is the Olympics itself.

I personally don't believe Football has a place in the Olympics, along with a few other sports, the Olympics should be about 1 persons quest to be the best in their sport !

Does anyone else think that this will happen ?

  1. Noo. I was losing hope in my country with football and the stupid players who are overpaid spoilt chavs who never win anything, and their stupid orange girlfriends who are always selling dumb stories to magazines. They care more about being celebs than sports people.

The olympics gave me hope as all the sports people seemed like real sports people with none of the rubbish we have with football.

I hope the beckhams won't take over the Olympics as a way to sell even more stories to celeb magazines and to make money and get attention for themselves.

  2. good question...got me thinking

  3. It is such a small, insignificant part of the Olympics, I don't think it is worth bothering about.

  4. Hmmmm David Beckham to coach the GB team... He is a well qualified coach with years of experience in coaching teams - just what we need to win. Or have I got that all wrong?

David Beckham, can nearly string a sentence together and is world famous for being able to kick a good free kick. I think that is a better description. And he is the man who is going to unite 2 sets of rival football players - Scotland and England (with the odd Northern Irish player), and use all his years of coaching experience to make a world class GB team? I cant see it/

  5. Nah... football is just one of the many aspects of the Olympics. It would be far from hogging the lime light... More so if it is British football since they always play badly....
