  1. London is no more dangerous than any big city, and a lot less dangerous than some I could think of ... of course you need to take the normal "streetwise" precautions you would anywhere like keeping your money and other valuables out of the reach of pickpockets as much as possible

London is a big place ... there's nothing wrong with walking around, especially in the busy tourist areas, but the places you will want to visit are not necessarily all that close to each other ... I think you need to study a map and see where they are ... for instance Buckingham Palace, Horse Guards Parade, Big Ben, Palace of Westminster, London Eye are within walking distance of each other, but they're miles away from Tower of London and Tower Bridge ... one of the best things to do at the beginning of your visit is to take one of the open top bus tours, I would advise not getting off the bus and going inside places very much, stay on the bus and finish all the tours in one day, then afterwards you can decide which places to go back to by ordinary public transport ... you can look at London Transport maps online at www.tfl.gov.uk

  2. Yea. I have been there thousands of times. Nothing bad ever happened to me. Just remember to do your own thing, don't go into any weird places and mind your own buisness!

  3. London is as safe as any other city in the day. Pickpockets are of course something you should look out for, keep your valuables zipped up and safe, never put your bag down etc (the usual precautions).

For sightseeing, there is no way you could see most of the sites in just a couple of days on foot. It's best to travel by tube (underground). It's quick, accessable (stations are everywhere) and fairly cheap, if you just buy an all day pass for all zones, that should set you up for the days travel. Do not use a taxi wherever you go, it's expensive and the drivers usually drive around for a bit or take you round extremely long routes to your destination to get more money out of you.

  4. not very dangerous, just don't flash about your expensive things, stay clear of gangs if you see them, and if you do happen to get mugged (which is unlikely) don't put up a fight.

i've lived in london all my life (i'm 15) and i've never been mugged.

also, best to go before around 3:30 (when school ends lol)

all that's just precautions, you probably still wont get mugged if you do.

  5. If you are fit you could.  There are a lot of sites that aren't really within reasonable walking distance...at least not being coverable in a day anyway.

Yes it's safe but you need to be aware of pickpockets so keep any valuables safely hidden, preferably inside a zipped pocket inside the jacket you wear.

  6. I travelled to London by myself several years ago for business.  I went sightseeing by myself pretty much everyday for two weeks.  I had absolutely no problem with it not being safe.  Of course, learn your areas.  For example, don't sightsee in Vauxhau (don't remember the spelling).  Vauxhau is the industrial area of London and is usually lower income.  That's where you will probably see some crime.  However, that's where I stayed and still didn't have a problem.  I'm sure there's other places, but I don't know where they are because I travelled almost all over London with no problem.

  7. Like any big city, you need to be aware of your surroundings.  However, both of my daughters have gone to school there...still do...and I have visited as well...it is a surprisingly safe city.  The train system is excellent, and the natives are very kind and friendly.  No Worries!

  8. There is a new company that do a walk around london and all they ask for is a tip at the end.  I think they meet outside Green Park tube station at about 10 in  the morning.  There are loads of other companies offering walking or bus tours... If you are on you're own and only have a Map you may find it takes longer to navigate yourself around and the walks will provide loads of info on what you see....

  9. I think its like any big city but if you keep an eye out and just be aware then nothing will happen, I've many times and found it perfectly fine.  I think even in the nightime it would be okay and if you like to travel on foot then tat is waht you should do but be aware it is quite a big place.

  10. I went to London earlier this year, in March. I'm 18 and it was my first time there and I was surprisingly comfortable walking around the city. I went with my mom and we walked a great distance in the day and a half we were there. We walked during both night and day, getting lost in the Camden area and then the major tourist-related things the next day. We had no problems whatsoever other than trying to find our hotel which was very difficult to find...
