Question:

Is Luis Yanez still on the U.S. Olympic team?

Someone told me today that Luis Yanez had been kicked off the Olympic boxing team, and I can't find anything to confirm this. I think he's one of the best chances the U.S. has for a gold medal this year. If he DID get kicked off, why?

  1. He was missing for 3 weeks to take care of his sister while she was in rehab.

I would assume the reason he is saying so now is because he has no choice.

He has been training for years, and his sister understands that he had to tell.

I am in the town that he is from, and his gym is not in the nicest part of town at ALL, but if he can get ready there, why not let him?

Several other boxers complained about the coach, his unorthodox rules, and his training faucility.

All BEFORE Yanez's issue came up.

The coach is a lunatic, and seems to have a grudge against Yanez.

He even called Yanez "The biggest liar I have ever seen."

Yanez is, I believe, the number 3 super flyweight in the WORLD.

    He has a great shot.

He is appealing to the board of the olympics this week, with a lawyer.

  2. He disappeared for 3 weeks without telling anyone.

Now he claims he was helping his sister with her drug problem, which is why he did not tell anyone.

That doesn't make sense to  me, because if he wanted to protect her privacy then, why not now?

He is off the team and I doubt that he will be back.
