Is MAC Make-Up Really That Good?

Question

I really really want some MAC make-up but I don't know if it is really that good?

I have very sensitive skin and I was wondering if it irritates people with sensitive skin?

Is it good quality?

Are they helpful in the store with questions and stuff?

Would they help me with the smokey look if I asked?

1. yes they make amazing products. i like their eyeliner, eyeshadow, concealer, mascara, and lip gloss.

It is good quality, but I used MAC for about a month and hated it. (I'm fair skinned etc.)

Later, I went to the same mall and fell in LOVE with Laura Mercier cosmetics. I would recommend that above anything.

MAC makeup is orgasmic. It's absolutely lovely and well worth the money.

I only buy the eyeshadows, lipsticks and polish though. I have never used the foundations or powders.

The staff are super-helpful and really know what they are talking about. And yes, they are pros with the smokey look.

In response to your new questions...

Smells like candy? Not really. It doesn't smell bad or chemical-ish. But I wouldn't say it's candy-smelling.

The gloss called "Lipglass" is annoyingly sticky, to the point where your hair, dust particles, small bugs, etc. will get trapped on your mouth. I can't use it. It's more for costume/clubbing. Just get a lipstick in a color you like, and use another brand of gloss over top.

Brushes - very very expensive and are sold individually. Not necessarily better quality than other brands. Your best bet is to buy a set off eBay. The makeup quality is important, the brush quality is second.

MAC makeup is good because it is very highly pigmented.  A tiny bit goes a long way and it can be mixed with a variety of bases.  They'll be able to answer any questions in the store, or even if you order online they have a customer service center.  It's pricey...but worth it as it lasts forever.

It is used on all skin types...and is fine on most sensitive skin.  I've had friends have adverse reactions to certain products though....slight aversions to specific ingredients etc.  From what I understand it's not very common and your results will likely be fine. I have very sensitive skin and have never had a problem with this line.

No, its not that good.  I know quite a few people who have had allergic reactions or break outs from it.  It is, however, perfect for stage makeup because of the wide array of colors.  The girls at the MAC counter should be able to help you with the smokey look.  My advice is that if you have sensitive skin, ask for samples and use it for a few days to see how it is with your skin and then go back and buy it if it works well.

MAC makeup has really awesome colors especially for the eyes!!  The foundation - well it does not work out for some people as with all cosmetics because of the chemicals in it- some of my friends tend to break out with the liquid foundation but I have the compact powder and its pretty good.  The mascara - I would not bother with- the eyeliners are amazing!!  If you go in and say you want a make over they will try some products on you and show you how to do it

yes! even i am not wearing makeup yet, but wen i do i will b getting mac...my mom uses it n it makes her look pretty so use it..their colors pop! u no like they have brite colors if u want 2 use em, but they also have light feminie colors!

Yes it is pretty good, but way overpriced. I use L'oreal Hip eyeshadow and its just as good as Mac (and cheaper).   I haven't used the actual facial stuff like foundation or concealer, but I would imagine you could find something similar for a better price.

Try L'oreal's TruBlend. It covers blemishes REALLY well and the blush lasts all day.

yes a majority of it, the eyeshadows are amazing! very vibrant and rich colors, the foundation and powder is very natural looking, however, stay away from the mascara, supposedly isnt good ( told so by an actual MAC makeup artist - he uses Loreal instead lol)
