Are these two types of food packaging the same or are there any differences in them?

  1. No, vacuum packaging means they extract all the air; modified atmosphere packaging means they change the air for a different mixture of gases that will prevent the food decaying so quickly.


  2. Henry is right.  M.A.P usually incorporates a gas like nitrogen.  Vacuum is the total absence of air, and best suited for long-term freezing.  You shouldn't freeze MAP products, because it will still freezer-burn.
