Question:

Is MDO plywood suitable for skate ramps in an outdoor setting?

I have built a mini ramp in the back yard and tried masonite. It was a failure. The tarp blew off and the rain trashed it. I'm looking for a material with a smooth surface that doesn't nessecarily need to be covered. A guess is MDO but I'm not sure. Skatelite is definately out of the question.

  1. No. MDO will fail if it is wet.

  2. no, MDO will fall apart when it gets wet.

Best I can do is pressure treated plywood, but it's not too smooth. Take a walk around a Home Depot, there may be some plastic sheets that you can lay over the pressure treated plywood.

  3. MDO will not be durable in wet weather even if you use marine plywood, best is use ordinary plywood and cover it with plastic sheets
