  1. Mears is  really smooth and consistent driver. He's a "step-child" at HMS. Look what the Shrub did when HMS fired him. Mears is always getting up near the top 10, even when the junk they give him isn't running. He just isn't spectacular, or a crasher. No matter which rookie CC they put him with, he still qualifies and runs above what the car should do. I'd like to see him at RCR, or JGR. .

  2. Mears is under rated for sure, give him a good team and crew..and let's see what a difference it will make with the guidance of Burton, Bowyer and Harvick..just my opinion

  3. Well it's not like he was good enough for hendrick motorsports.

  4. No, he needs consistency next year to be anywhere near successful.

  5. yes, he is good enough. The problem with Mears is that he has not been in a ride long enough to prove himself. He has been jostled too

much, having to get use to a new crew chief etc too much.

I hope he stays a nice long time with RCR and gets to prove that he is a good driver.

  6. No, but I kinda think he'll do better than he did at Hendrick.

  7. maybe he's the only guy with enthusiasm enough to even want to race for RCR.  I could think of a better team to have for partners. Too bad he has to take the step down.

  8. I think they could do better!!!

  9. I will bet anything that he will get wins next year.  or at least consistantly better and better...

      So now we will see.

  10. Yes, but its hard to say if he'll succeed... very hard to say... It's difficult to go race for 5 different teams (41, 42, 25, 5, 33?) in 5years of a 6-year career. I believe he has also changed crew chiefs every year as well.

Gordon has raced for one team and two crew cheifs,

Jr has raced for two teams, two CC.

Jimmie Johnson is one team, one CC

Stewart, one team one crew cheif

    Kenseth, One team, two CC's

Mears? 5 teams, 5 crew cheifs

Who can RCR get thats better? You know?

  11. Hard to say.   Look at what the last guy the "Let Go" is doing this year.   Mears could be the breakout driver for 2009.   Don't really think its likely, but Mears is at least an experienced driver, and RCR has a good Idea what they are getting with him.

  12. I dont know, but this is going to be interesting to see.  I think that Casey has talent, and he did ok at first, but then came Jr, and that was the end of it.  All the focus was on Jr.  Jimmie and Jeff are also havin not so good years.

  13. i think they could do better, he's been with 2 teams so far and hasnt proved much.

  14. I wanna say first off is that Casey isn't at his full potential this year, and from what I've heard about Alan Gustafson still giving Casey Kyle Busches old setups from last year, I don't think Gustafson could Crew Chief his way out of a wet paper bag.

All I can say about Casey performance-wise is that he's finished top 15 the past two years. One in Ganassi Equipment(We all see how great they've been doing the past few years.), and the second last year after being a hair out of falling out of the top 35. I've kept saying if you give Casey good equipment, a good team, and STABILITY, he could be a chase contender. He would of been last year if he hadn't had that horrible first half of the season.

  15. No. He's a mediocre driver at best.

  16. he can drive, hes been switched around so much that he has not had a real chance yet, i think he will go to RCR and do just as good as clint bowyer or jeff burton, or kevin harvick.

  17. For RCR's Nationwide team.

    Mears is not Cup material.

  18. Casey may surprise a lot of people. Sometimes it isn't the equipment or the money. Sometimes it all comes down to chemistry. And not just with a crew chief. A driver not only has to mesh with his crew chief, but with his owner, his pit crew, his team mates, and all the other people who make a cup team successful. We all work better when we feel comfortable and at ease in our working environment. I'm not saying HMS is bad, but maybe RCR will have a little something different that will make Mears shine. I think he is talented and just hasn't found his nitch. Jeff Burton and Kevin Harvick are a lot different than Gordon, Johnson and Jr. It may be just the change to bring out the best in Casey Mears. Give him a chance.

  19. No he just is not consistent and he is the best equipment being with hendrick.

  20. Well, he's better than Clint Bowyer, and that's all I have to say about that.

  21. Is RCR a good enough team to make Casey win?

    That's the question.

  22. Casey is a great guy but just a top twenty driver..I do wish him luck though.
