Is Maicon staying or going?
The Inter Milan super star Maicon, has reportedly expressed his interest of rejoining former manager, Jose Mourinho. He has made this statement public and said that he would like it tremendously if he was to be coached by Jose Mourinho again.
The Brazilian side back who is arguably the best player in the Brazilian squad, recently had an interview with the Italian radio show, Radio Globo, during which he said, “I have already worked with Mourinho, and I would like to be coached by him again. I would go to Madrid, but it doesn't depend on me. I would like to stay at Inter. I would not be frustrated as the club has given me visibility on the international stage. It depends on the clubs.”
Maicon has admitted that he doesn’t really care whether he is at Madrid or at Inter Milan next season as long he is playing good football and constantly contributing to the team, he is a happy camper.
Maicon is a player who is gifted like only a few others before him, he possesses tremendous speed, precision passing and some of the best shooting the world of football has ever witnessed. He was one of the driving forces behind Inter’s record breaking treble win last season and he played a tremendous spell in the final of the Champions League against Bayern Munich.
Maicon is also an active member of the Brazilian national team, even though the team failed to live up to expectations this time around, Maicon was still the best player on the squad. Even though he plays as side back, he managed to score the opening goal for the Brazilian squad at the FIFA World Cup 2010.
Jose Mourinho who was previously managing Inter Milan last season, when they won their treble, had previously repeatedly stated while managing the side that Maicon was easily one of the driving forces behind the team and that it would have been impossible to achieve the same level of success without him on defense.
Maicon provides a little something extra to wherever he plays. Not only does he defend tremendously, but he is also a great attacking threat and tends to score almost as many goals as attacking players.
So when Mourinho made the shift and went on to manage Real Madrid it was only natural for him to want to bring Maicon into the squad as well.
Inter know that Maicon might be tempted to play under the manager with whom he has had incomparable success, which is why they slapped a price tag of around thirty nine million dollars on the player. It is this price evaluation that Real Madrid are hesitating over as they feel that even though Maicon is a great player and a must have for any side, Inter are trying to rob them by demanding such a high price for the player.
However if Maicon wants to leave then there is nothing that Inter can do to stop him from leaving, so we will just have to wait and see what the Brazilian decides for his future.
