Totally not. Specially if you staying in a resort like most tourists do, remember to bring in a load of bikinis and shorts. Its awfully sunny here and the resorts are very very very informal. maybe you might wanna bring along some dresses for dinner. but be sure make them informal, like above knees and spaghetti straps. even nights are warm.

If yous planning to visit the capital, do bring in some shirts as bikini's are not allowed in the capital. And yes as mentioned in the above answer you wont need a tux for sure, even if you attending a wedding :-)

The Maldives is definitely NOT POSH. It is hard to be posh walking barefoot on the beach. You don't need your tux, high heels, or long evening gowns!

Instead, the Maldives is a wonderful place to see and experience the natural wonder of the planet.

Nah...just like Boracay, Philippines. Beautiful and affordable.
