  1. I have friends who live there and have visited many times. Yes there are lovely places to stay and visit just as there are areas to be avoided at all costs.

All big cities are the same, if your planning to visit then make sure you do your homework as to where not to wander into.

Its a very cosmopolitan city compared to many in the North and has a lot to offer.

  2. Manchester is a dirty grim mill town and was officially voted the17th worst place to live in the whole UK out of 434 boroughs (Channel 4 Television 2007.)

The place is full of gun crime and poorly educated people, steer well clear of this horrible little town!

  3. My family moved there in 1986 and never regretted the move. It is a city with rough and with genteel areas. It can be grey and depressing (Lowry paintings) or it can be bussling and hectic night life. We like china town and the countryside to the north and west of Manchester.

  4. I lived in Manchester for 5 years and I never ever ever ever ever want to live there again.  It's not that rough, it's just gray and depressing.  If all you want to do it get drunk and have rows with people with big chips on their shoulders then you'd be OK there but if you like a nice atmosphere and attractive environment then you'd best steer clear.

  5. From what I hear, Its a really nice city to live in. Lots of history. It has crime problems just like any other major city.
