Is Manila is common last name in Mexico & Latin America??

I'm just wondering cause my boyfriend is from Mexico & his last name is Manilla.What does Manila mean??

No, I dont think it's a common name and the only rference I know, manila envelopes (in Latin America) are those yellow big office envelopes but the last name doesn't mean anything.

I don't think so. I lived in Mexico for 36 years and never heard it before.

Manilla is not the same thing as Manila. They are pronounced differently.  To answer your question "manila" is not a common last name, personally I've never heard it as a last name.
