  1. Yeah:

Manny is the first Asian to become a 4-time world champion

Manny's popularity is so tremendous, not just in Asia, but the whole world.

He is now the pound-for-pound king, and no other Asian did that.

He's beaten the Mexican Trio (who's also bound to the IBHOF).

No pound-for-pound king has ever given excitement and thrill to his audience than Manny has over the recent years.

Of course, he's now a legend! Not even Flash Elorde, Khaosai Galaxy, or fighting Harada can match his status now!

  2. YES SIRRRRR

  3. the cat has 4 belts right now.. i would have to say YES

  4. Time will tell.

    .

  5. he's already a legend, and a national icon. personally, i want to see him get knocked out. i think he's been carefully matched in some of his biggest fights, and he turned down a third fight with marquez to fight diaz.  morales still holds a win over him, everyone forgets, and never should have given him a rematch, he beat him hands down the first time

  6. Yes he is (i think). I have to disagree with our friend Andrew M though, he said that pacquiao beat an old barrera the first time around, however, i guess what Andrew didn't realize was that Barrera was considered the top guy, lineal champion in the featherweight, and he was not yet considered old before he fought manny. He was considered old just after he was badly beaten by pacquiao. As you can see, saying old barrera was beaten up just to discredit pacquiao, but the truth is barrera was not yet old and was the best on all the featherweights when he was beaten black and blue by pacquiao.

  7. Presently, Pacquiao is the pound for pound best. Even if Mayweather didn't retire, you would still have to analyze their records with a fine tooth comb to see who is better. With that said, Pacquiao has cemented his place with the boxing greats because he is the ONLY Asian boxer with belts in 4 weight classes.

  8. You can say that he beat an old Barrera and Morales. To be honest, I saw him lose the first fight against Marquez, and the second fight, could have gone either way. I still see Pacquiao as an unskilled figher, who is a tremendous power puncher.  I need to see the third fight happen between Pacquiao and Marquez. I wasn't impressed with the the Diaz fight. Diaz looked horrible, and the HBO announcers seem to idolize Pacquiao for no reason.

  9. no b/c legend implies his career is over and will be remembered as a great boxer. What he is however, is a current champion

  10. respected yes legend no

  11. Manny Pac is definitely a legend.  All you need to know is this:  Against Barrera, Morales, and Marques (Three hall of famers, and all time great Mexican fighters) Pacquiao is 5-1-1 with 3 KO and 10 knockdowns.  These fighters have a combined 0 KO's and 1 knockdown (really a slip by Morales against Barrera in their first fight) against all other competition.  The lone loss was by scores of 115-113, and the draw was only a draw because judge Guy Jutras "did not know" that a 3 knockdown round should be scored 10-6.  Pacquiao is clearly the P4P king, even including Mayweather, and has faced the toughest competition of any fighter in the past 5 years.  Also, many forget that Pacquiao was the legitimate champ at 112 (not just a belt holder) before he came to America.  I strongly believe that Pacquiao should be mentioned right there, if not above, the likes of Jones, Hopkins, and Mayweather as this era's greatest fighters.  Beyond that, I feel he has the potential, with a couple more wins, to become possibly the greatest sub lightweight fighter to ever box.

  12. The fact that he won 4 titles is a major accomplishment and a ticket to the hall of fame. He is a legend because he did beat the three best mexican fighters of recent years and nobody has that on their resume.

Some people would argue that Barrera was a young old fighter because he turned pro when he was 16 so by the time he fought pacquiao he had been in too many fights and wars with Junior Jones and Morales.  I personally feel that Marquez should have won their second fight but nevertheless he won and I would say he is a legend.

The diaz fight did nothing to improve his status as Diaz was a tomato can and expected to lose like he did. If Manny loses to Valero or another lightweight fighter then it should not take away from what he already accomplished since he started at super bantamweight.

  13. oh yea,he was already a few fights back. it started with his destruction of marco antonio barrera, then his marquez and morales fights and all the others. he is alot like roberto duran in the way he can go to someone elses backyard and still be the crowd favorite.if he quit now he would still go down as an all-time great.

  14. of coarse,, he is definitely a boxing legend..

he already beaten the best featherweights mexico can offer.

the next victim will be hatton or chavez.

    just wait..

  15. Most definitely, yes! Having become a four-division champ, Manny has overtaken the great Filipino boxer Gabriel "Flash" Elorde in terms of ring accomplishments.  All he has to do now is take care of himself and his finances, make sure he doesn't end up broke like Tyson.  Most of all, he must carefully plan the rest of his career, specifically as to when to finally hang up his gloves because this has been the bane of all great champions.    But whatever happens to him henceforth, even if he loses to Hatton or some other fighters, his place in boxing history is well-secured.
