  1. 2 things need to happen for that.

    1. pitching needs to stay as good as has been for most of the yr.

    2. need to score runs.

their prob is not getting on base its getting them over when thay get on base, they need to stop trying to hit hrs during every at bat, they need to get good wood on it tats all.

  2. Last year, no one counted on the Colorado Rockies getting into the World Series so anything's possible once a team make it to the playoffs. With Manny Ramirez, it definitely increases their chance of getting there. The Dodgers have the best ERA in the National League and Manny will help make their offense more consistent, which is EXACTLY what the Dodgers needed. Raphael Furcal is rumored to be coming back by the end of the season and if Nomar Garciaparra stays healthy, they are a definite contender. Their bullpen were a little hurt after the All-Star break but if the bullpen get healthy and their starter, Brad Penny, who is scheduled to return next week, the Dodgers got a shot to get to the World Series.

  3. I am a big Dodgers fan but it is very difficult to answer this question.  There is no question Manny will help and they do have good pitching, but they still come up way short offensively.  If they can make it to the playoffs and their pitchers perform well it is very possible for them to come out on top in a short playoff series, but I would put their overall chances in the "long shot" category.

  4. No I don't think that Manny is enough to get them to the World Series.  Even with the addition of Manny I don't think they can beat the Cubs, Brewers or Cardinals.  They all have a better offense, defense and pitching staff.  Manny is a solid bat in their lineup, but he probably is a worse defender then whoever it was he replaced.

  5. No. The Dodgers are .348 against the 5 best teams in the NL and .333 against the AL. They were more than one player away from being a great team. And the Dodgers' offense is weak enough that teams can simply pitch around Manny if they want to.

  6. NO

  7. If their pitching gets better.

  8. They need more than Manny, but if their pitching starts to produce, they could be on their way!

  9. Their on the right path by getting Manny, but I say no they still need more offense.

  10. Unfortunately for them, no. No doubt Manny will spark up the offense, but anything can spark up their offense at this point.

They obviously have pitching ( League best 2nd ERA ), but their lack of run support is what hurts these guys.

  11. The only chance they have at the World Series is if they get Penny, Schmidt, Saito, and Furcal back. So it's looking pretty unlikely this year. If we get Manny back next year along with a healthy rest of the team, we have a serious shot at it, especially with all the young talent we have.

  12. the west is the dodgers for sure, but i wouldnt say the series.  i dont think you pitch around manny if you surround him with blake, kent, and garciaparra [when he isnt hurt].  they just need to get their outfielders set up and they can have a chance at a deep playoff run.  meaning, bench andruw jones, and start eithier and kemp.  those bats in the lineup are really needed.  and maybe another quality bench player would guarantee the deep playoff run, considering nomar is made of plastic.

  13. They need more than just manny. They need better offense and pitching.
