  1. Optimum screen size is a function of viewing distance, so an 80" screen is ideal for viewing from about 8-10 ft (See link). So as long as your room allows that it's a good size.

    As to how well it fits the projector or the finish suits the type of lighting I can't comment since you don't specify the projector or viewing conditions.

    In general, white screens are universal, although some like a light gray screen if the contrast ratio is low on their projector.

    As for aspect ratio, since most TV and movies are 16:9 (1.78) or wider a 4:3 screen is unsually less popular than a 4:3. That said, there is nothing wrong with a 4:3 ... you will have bars top and bottom for widescreen material, that's all.


  2. It's plenty large for any room I've ever seen in a home. However, I would suggest a 16:9 aspect because any newer projector will be 16:9 and TV has gone that way as well. I think you'll be happier with that in the long run. Hook the projector up to a HD cable or sat box and watch sports in HD.
