I heard Mark Priestley who plays Nurse Dan died. I'm so sad, he was a great actor. What do you think will happen to his character on All Saints? He just got married to Erica, right?

  1. My deepest sympathy to Mark's family and friends.

I watched his last episode when he got married to Erica.

It's is so sad that he hadn't turned to anybody for help.

    Depression is a horrible illness.

  2. R.I.P Mark you will be sorely missed.....you were GREAT on All-Saints....:(

As for his character... i think they might make it look like as though he flew out overseas to work there for good or something...and even have his wife fly out to br with him or something...

I really LOVE the show...i hope to GOD they won't axe it...i will be sooo sad if they did...I used to not like it...but after a while i was HOOKED....:D

  3. I don't know what the will do, but I agree, now is time to respect what he did.

I think that Mark was really great actor and put a lot of passion into his work.

Isn't it strange?  We think of the acting life a so glamorous and happy, but this year I can think of 2 celebrity suicides.

  4. I clicked on your question out of curiosity at what people would be saying and because I wanted to comment about how suicides were never reported in the news until very recently... such deaths were usually refered to as not having any suspicious circumstances.

AND THEN I saw Harry Haveachat's response to your question... and I am sorry but i couldn't go past it and just say that I sincerely hope that none of his relatives ever suffer from depression...because it is a h**l of a thing to go through . .. and there doesn't have to be a concrete tangible reason for being depressed.. and sure you can call it cowardly.. BUT sometimes you feel like there is no other option.. that you would cease to be a burden on those around you ( and of course you are not such a thing in reality.. just your mind) if you just weren't here anymore....so.... in that sense it isn't an act of cowardice.. but perhaps a sacrifice...in a sense.. THEY don't need me here, THEY could move on easily enough If I wasn't here.....

so harry .. may your children never have to suffer depression.. because it's clear you'll be of no support

EDIT: there are many people out there that you would not consider Depression Candidates... always laughing... always bouncey.. seemingly always happy... BUT not. It is one of the biggest mental Illnesses in Australia and needs more understanding and compassion.

You can have everything everybody else wants BUT still suffer depression...In the eyes of others you could be sitting on top of the world...and yet you feel like S***e and alone and pathetic... YOU don't need the Harry Havachats to make you feel worse...cos you can do that all yourself.

Please pass the links I have posted here on to any people you may feel would benefit from them.

  5. Yep he took the easy way out, very weak if you ask me. So many people try so hard to get into acting and land good roles and never succeed. He had it all and threw it all away. They should just say he commited suicide in the show.

  6. I think they should do an episode on suicide and actually spell out for people EXACTLY what course of action they should take if they think they know someone who it thinking of killing themselves.

People usually tell someone what they are thinking of doing, and it is the action of that listener which will decide the fate of the person in danger. Usually there is a warning, there are warning signs.

We need to know! Do we go to the police? Hospital? Doctor? Mother? No one can give a straight answer.

When there is an accident it is clear  - we call 000.

When there is a threat to someone's life by their own volition - we call....?

  7. yes he did and they film 2 different plots so if an actor dies they play the second one but they will take him out of the show.

  8. Yes, he's dead.  TV shouldn't matter when something like this happens.

I think it would be quite cruel to end his character by killing him off in some tragic accident or by replacing him.  But thats just me.

  9. uh im not australian so i dont know what all saints is but yeah  hes dead i seen it on wikepidia and omg he was so hot thats so sad R.I.P even tho i never even heard of you until 1 minute ago

  10. In a few American soaps as actors have moved on they have simply replaced the old one with a new actor, he just slots into the roll.   I personally cant see a problem with this practice.

Exactly the same thing done in any job where a person leaves.

I am sure most actors would agree that they have put in a lot of effort to making each character work.  If that can be carried on then why not carry it on.

  11. It was sad and also a bit of a shock to read the story about Mark Priestley. He will be sadly missed. He was a bloody good actor. I'm sure that he emulated his character with his own traits and that was made him so good.

Marriage - yes- last week in S. Aust. As  for leaving and what becomes of his character - I couldn't think of anything more respectful; with the family's permission and since he is reported to have been suffering depression; to carry his character through and finish in a like way - one moment he's there and the next, he isn't.

The program (All Saints) itself seems to use topical subjects and I don't think that his family would necessarily object if his death was not lost, but had some bearing with All Saints approaching the subject of depression and the fact that it is openly hidden - so many suffer and yet it is not widely spoken about.

Ultimately though, whatever happens in the coming months, is the family's decision and theirs alone.

    RIP Mark.

  12. Terrible Tragedy

I don't think we should concern ourselves with "his character in All Saints" right now - mourning, respect and admiration for his life is needed I think

Depression affects more people than we really realise.

    :-(

  13. Yes Mark Priestley sadly committed suicide.  He jumped off a hotel while he was battling depression =[   it's really sad but I don't know what's going to happen now with All Saints.

  14. I don't think anyone will be worried right now about what will happen to his character right now.  I just wanted to say to the person who said he was weak for commiting suicide, unless you have been there you have no idea of the pain depression can cause..

  15. it is going to be really hard to write him off the show because he is dead he cannot act anymore parts to die on the show.

    It is terribly sad.

  16. **I've just heard the news and it's so sad.  I didn't watch All Saints very often but I knew who he was and can honestly say he was a great actor because I would never have guessed that he was suffering from depression.

I just hope that he has now found some kind of peace now that the h**l he was obviously enduring is over.  It's so terrible to think that this was the only way he thought he could end the pain he was going through.

As for what will happen to his character on All Saints, I guess that's something for the writers and producers to worry about and the fans to wait and find out.**

  17. Who knows what they'll do? Maybe they will write him out of the series by having him move to another town, or perhaps use the facts of his death  to write him out  and to point out the terrible consequences of depression. They could have him die in an accident or maybe from something contagious that he got from nursing a patient. It's a terrible tragedy for his family and so unnecessary too because people who feel like this can do so much for themselves to get over depression (and let's face it, the psych profession are usually worse than useless!)

See "Releasing anger cures depression".at the following site

And andy k, it was an act of desperation not weak as people like you characterize it. They don't want to die they just can't see any way out of the pain. I feel compassion for people in this situation not criticism.

And harry haveachat, Hitler would have been proud of you!

  18. yep, they think he committed suicide by jumping off a building, he was also very depressed. On allsaints Dan will probably die in a car crash or something, or transfers to another hospital.

  19. I found this out around 6pm and was devastated. He was an awesome actor.

I don;t think they know what they will do about his character yet. I'm too sad to think about it right now

  20. That is so sad - im truely sorry to hear such terrible news.  I guess they will have to re-shoot his scenes and write him out of the show.  I dont think it would be appropriate to replace his character with another actor.

  21. Getting a person who has never suffered depression, to understand the illness, is like getting a man to understand labour pains.

Some of you have no idea !

  22. I cannot believe that happened. I watch that show and it's sadly ironic that  on the last show they showed before his death, it was sort of like one of his characters best days of life; he got married in the last episode. I think they'll have to do something like Home and Away. When Sally left they made her die. Here maybe he'll suddenly disappear/ get kidnapped and few months later after giving up life will go back to normal. Or else they'll somehow get someone else to act in that role. How sad.

  23. i think that they might have erica and him in a car at night going to the honeymoon (dark so that no one can tell it is another actor in the car)

and then they crash but he doesn't make it

or there is a bomb in their house or he got murderd or went missing or something

  24. John howard said that the only way out for the script writers would be for nurse dan to run away with his g*y lover, micheal jackson.

  25. they will probly say he went on some big holiday or something

or that he got transfered to another hospital!! or he may even die

tragically on the show!! who knows just wait and see!

  26. Sadly yes.  As for his character, I have no idea, I don't watch the show.

  27. Yes, it's sadly true. I am also worried about his character Dan on All Saints, however I think at the moment we need to be thinking about his family, friends and of course the cast and crew of All Saints!

  28. Depression is a horrible thing but i don't believe that committing suicide is ever the answer. Isn't there always something to live for? whether it be friends or family or work or something? i'm sure everyone's thought of it sometime in their life but the ones who follow through with it don't relise what they leave behind.

He seemed such a nice guy but must've had huge troubles.

  29. I am sad to, i thought that he was a really great actor and i was thinking the same what will they do with his character.

I think that Dan and Erica  will go on there honeymoon something tragic will happen to him on the way there or on the way back, and that is how i think they will like end the character.

    I hope i helped you a little bit ?? =]

  30. Yeah, it's very unfortunate. Depression can have such tragic outcomes!

Well, scenes are shot months in advance, so nothing would be happening just yet, but they will have to write him out. As someone has already said, replacing him would juts be rude and i don't think many people would volunteer to fill such a talented young actors role... they might have something happen to kill off his character or maybe just have him leave and never to come back, maybe lkike moving onto new things or something... some scenes would definitely ahve to be re-written

condolensces to all his family, friends and colleagues!

    RIP MARK PRIESTLY

  31. Yeah he did, its so sad to here he died. the fact he died so suddenly i don't think they script writers for all saints actually know what to do with his character at this stage. At this stage i think they replace him until the marriage theme is over, but it is not confirmed

There are at least 4 options

Senioro 1; they may just cut him out,

Senioro 2; they may just replace another person temperarily to finish the marriage scene, then cut him out,

Senerio 3; they may completely jump to another theme

Senior 4; his replacement will be killed off or jump on the plane and not be seen again.

Its so sad to here of young talent like him dying so suddenly and in such an awfully way. depression is horrible.
