Marriage these days seems to be an opportunity for some partners to abuse their "rights" and still think they can get away with it.

With a relationship you need to work a little harder to "keep" your current partner because you know that if you s***w up you can be gone in a flash.So maybe you work harder at it.

In marriage divorce takes longer, it's expensive and painful

So no ..marriage is not necessary but it can be great and bring you a very deep sense of bonding that is very difficult to find anywhere else

No. It all depends on the person and the life they wish to lead. Some people aren't meant to marry, others are. Just because the majority of the population does something, doesn't mean everyone in the population should. in theory marriage is fantastic but unfortunately practicality comes into play and it can find you in a great mess (sometimes, not always)

i think marriage is there to confirm or consolidate an existing strong relationship  and should not be used to forge or form a relationship

yes, i think it is, without marriage life is incomplete, may be you feel that later after 35. you can not live alone in life, after an age, everybody becomes bizi in one's own life, all the friends, cousins, brother sisters, everyone has a personal life, then the parents become old, and sick, you also need a companion, you also have an urge of children & family. So, choose a right person for you and marry.

No, its not necessary. It comes down to how you feel. It's a personal decision that each person has to make for themselves. If you don't think marriage is for you, then it isn't. It also could be the case that at this particular moment in life, marriage doesn't sound appealing because you are not ready to settle down. But, if ever the time comes where you do decide on it, you will know if you need it or not. But, realitically, it is not. You won't die if you are not married. If you get married, all your problems will not magically disappear...
