  1. yes mars is colder than the earth because it is 86 degrees celcious to 5 degrees celcious


  2. Generally colder because the red appearance of mars is not a sign of high temperatures on the surface. The recent mission to mars a few weeks prior to the martian winter period recorded temperatures of approximately -60C at night and upto +10C during the day (source NASA website)
