  1. its just sodium and carbs so its only good if you work out ALOT like ALOT.

  2. way too much sodium

  3. Well, a lot of people eat it without any immediate ill effects, so you're not going to fall over and die! ;-)  But the real question is, healthy compared to what?

Real ramen noodle soup such as you would get in Japan or China, or in a restaurant is far better for you. The broth uses real meat or vegetable stock, has fresh vegetables, and the noodles taste great. When I was living in Asia, there were always lots of noodle houses where there a wide variety of noodle dishes: Soy Sauce Ramen, Spicy Ramen, Dumplings (instead of noodles), Chashu Ramen (made with pork), Soba (cold noodles), and lots of other combination dishes. Even the Oriental equivalent of a "greasy spoon diner" had good food; a cheap noodle house where for a few coins you could get a bowl as big as your head filled with noodles and a thin slice of pork, garnished with green onions. They always tasted terrific, and Maruchan just can't compare!

I personally don't eat pre-packaged noodles because they're nearly always prepared on machinery which also processes peanuts, to which I'm allergic. Of course, prepared foods (especially meats) are nearly always doused with preservatives and salt so that they will keep longer, and such things are not healthy in large amounts.

So, yes, the pre-packaged ramen stuff is okay to eat. But don't ever think that it's ever going to be as good as the real thing!

By the way, if you really like noodles, there's a very funny Japanese movie about a woman who wants to become a great noodle chef. The movie is called "Tampopo", and it's a lot of fun! The movie can be hard to find, but it's well worth it. It's also got a number of skits in it about food, including a clever tribute to Charlie Chaplin. Enjoy!

  4. if you don't eat it often it won't kill you.  everything in moderation.

  5. it has LOTS of sodium in it, so no, not really.

  6. No, it isn't. It's loaded with sodium, and the noodles are fried. They do taste good, though.

  7. No instant ramen is healthy. They have week's amount of sodium.

And don't eat Maruchan ramen if you really want ramen.

It's not worth to eat a week's worth of sodium with nasty ramen.

Eat the spicier ones and it's worth it.

  8. If you eat it sparingly!

not if you eat it daily, too salty!

  9. nope! the flavor packet is very high in salt and noodles are fattening!!

  10. If by "healthy" you mean "will keep you alive on a desert island"- there is a lot of sodium and the noodles have very little nutritional benefit. When I eat it I save the cooking liquid so I have a soup, and I only use half the salt -er, I mean flavor packet- trust me, it's still plenty of flavor!

  11. not really, just empty calories, carbs, and sodium.

  12. no because it has alot of sodium in it.

  13. sodium and monosodium glutamate= bad news
