Need to buy a used car. Has anybody heard if there's plans to have another tax-free day? Is there a cap? How much?

  1. Nothing official yet . . . but it looks promising for sometime in August.

In the past there had been a cap of $2500 /sometimes if you purchased something larger it was the first $2500 that would not be taxed . . .

Cars and motorcycles are excluded - so if that is your plan for a major purchase there is no need to wait!

  2. There is talk for it in August. The cap would be $2500 and autos would be excluded and certain other purchases. Pay attention to the local news because they will carry the story as soon as it's available. I'm sure they will repeat it.

  3. MA doesn't have a permanent tax holiday set in law, so the state legislature has to pass a bill every year to allow it.  They still have not acted on it yet.  Fingers crossed!
