I just bought Dell Xps 1530 which came with McAfee pre-installed! But I need the best antivirus I can get...Tell me the pro's and cons of Nod32 vs Kaspersky....I have used nod32 on my desktop and it has the real time "Threatsense detection"which has saved me from many threats.I have vista ultimate on my desktop but the xps laptop has home premium...

So tell me..I don't know much about Kaspersky..haven't used it...

But I'm confused whether to get the Kaspersky Internet security or Kaspersky Antivirus?Or Both

B'coz nod32 has both ..not 2 seperate programs...

and last q..should I uninstall McAfee??Or is it good?

And finally WHICH is better Nod32 or Kaspersky?

Don't ssy equal...tell me which is slightly better...

Thanks and much appreciated!

  1. In my opinion, NOTHING beats ESET's NOD32.

I protect my computer with Smart Security to help me cover AV, Firewall and AntiSpam.  However, McAfree, Norton, and Kaspersky are RIGHT behind.

When I manage a computer network, I stick with Symantec Corporate.  Its ability to install and manage 1000s of computers makes it stand out from the rest!

All of the above are "signature" based Malware prevention.

There is a relatively new product out there called "ThreatFire" which is more "behavioral" based. It is designed to find things that ARE NOT discovered yet.  I have done some testing with this under VMWare and have been very happy with the results.  It can be used in conjunction with ANY of the above results.

If you are going to install ANY other AV and replace with the above (other than Threat Fire), YOU MUST install your current AV.  AVs will conflict with eachother or be set off by the other's signitures and cause both NOT to work OR crash your operating system.

  2. I have read a lot of complaints about Mcafee - Just search the reviews on this product.

    I prefer Norton anti-virus.

  3. If I will rank these three security  programs:

KASPERSKY.... why? hourly updates... excellent detection (siganature-based)  and disinfectionn of almost all form of malware with its advanced didinfection technology...

ESET NOD32.... very light on system resources..... better than kaspersky in proactive detection but lags behind disinfection and detection of other malware such as spyware and rogues..

MCAFEE........ good dection and disinfection...but...its a big

RESOURCE HOG-- when i installed it put about 20 processes on my computer.....
