  1. Probally just a campaign add. He's most likely trying to get the enviormentalists to vote for him so he will end up with more votes in the upcoming election.

If he get's voted in he'll probally deny he even said it.

  2. Good idea, but just a campaign gimmick.   Wheres the money going to come from?   Who is going to say if it is up to winning the prize?   Its just like his and hillarys gas tax break for the summer----- they aren't in office yet so can't do anything about giving a tax break!!!!!

  3. I'm not sure where that money would come from. I could be proven wrong (or at least attempted to be) by die hard McCain supporters, but I don't think we have that kind of money laying around in our Government. He has realized that people support Obama partially for his green initiative. Neither candidate has the perfect solution, but Obama's is far better for the environment.

  4. Its certainly an imaginative improvement over Obamas counterpunch, a recycling of Jimma Cahtuh's "moral equivalent of war" on the oil companies.  The time its the big bad commodities traders.

  5. Campaign pledge, there's a lot more money being spend on battery research because it means a lot more money to the lab that develops a workable battery for cars.

  6. Its much akin to the X-prize.  A competition developed from non-government sources, in a attempt to spur the development of and investing in new technology.   Not a new concept either...Lindbergh crossed the Atlantic for such a a prize (see Ortieg Prize)

While its a nice concept...I don't see enough investers to cover a 300 million dollar prize, maybe 30.

  7. Anyone who made a better battery would be an instant billionaire so it means nothing much like the tax holiday.

  8. It makes far more sense than 'buying carbon credits'
