I don't know enough of Palin, but it did come as a complete shock to me? What do you think?

  1. It threw me for a loop but I don't know what it will do. But she is going to espouse the same political positions that we do not need in the VP office or anywhere else.

  2. Complete blunder for McCain. This is like Christmas in August for Obama. He will win by a landslide. Palin is an unknown, who is unqualified.

  3. I think even more Hillary supporters will go over to the Republicans now. I don't know about genius, but it was a smart move.

  4. Genius. Obama is toast in November. CHECKMATE YOU OBAMA SOCIALISTS.

  5. An absolute blunder.  He succeeded only in taking away the spotlight from Obama's incredible acceptance speech.  She isn't even the most qualified GOP woman.

  6. Genius; Palin is a Splendid choice and she will make a Wonderful VP (and future President)! It just goes to show that McCain is a true maverick & genius who picks likewise!

    Palin:

    * has the record of the most beloved Governor in the US by her state (Alaska)

    * is a vocal, huge proponent of American energy independence & Alaskan drilling

    * has actually been leading people for the past several while Obama & Biden NEVER have led anyone!

    * shelved her state's pork-laden Bridge to Nowhere that McCain has ridiculed on the trail

    * will join McCain in fighting hard against earmarks

    * is about as far outside the Beltway as you can get

    * ran on the agenda of stopping wasteful gov't spending

    * is the mother of 5 kids!

    * has had her son deploy to Iraq

    * is for a strong US defense

    * is a widely acknowledged rising star in the Republican party

    * is an ice fisherman

    * is a moose hunter

    * is a small business owner and a lifetime NRA member

All in all, she's a truly fine leader, citizen and patriot - who truly represents Americana (Motherhood & Apple pie)!

    McCain/Palin '08

    Peace

  7. It would be genius if she were against drilling for trivial amounts of oil that would not sustain the US at a great price to the environment of our ecosystem and natural beauty, as well as endangered species, and if she was pro-choice, but no, she's just another general conservative and it's not getting my vote, as much as I'd love to put a woman in power.

  8. I think Mitt Romney is one PISSED OFF Republican tonight.

  9. She has more executive experience than Obama, so I think it was a good pick.  She took on corruption in alaska.  Very ethical.  Good pick.

  10. Byrdsfan, how is she less experienced than Obama?

She is the successful executive officer of a state...that is leadership.  Obama has organized a community...and now that same community is a ghetto.

This is a brilliant, shrewd move on McCain's part.

  11. It was a genius choice. Obama went w/ the snow on the roof VP.... McCain went for a young woman....... He is getting both Hilary supporters for 1st woman. and young voters............. GENIUS!

  12. He's been kicking himself in the a$$ all day.

  13. genius. The media will put her picture in where ever they can, she is hot, and they will love her. The spotlight is off Obama now, and he will actually have to do something to get coverage

  14. McCain is trying to shore up his lackluster support among the GOP rank and file.  They have not be very enthused about him.  He thinks adding a staunch conservative who is young and female will give him a wow factor.  It also will alienate independents and the Clinton supporters.

  15. pure genius.  look at all them questions asking about her.  it's something that mc cain needs.  he needs to steal the thunder from osama, and by picking palin, he did just that.  everybody's talking about osama's great speech yesterday and today before noon eastern time, but now everyone is talking about palin, and nobody's talking about osama's speech last night.

  16. I don't understand why he picked her...obviously to attract disgruntled Hillary supporters....but she has less experience than Obama!!!!! Now the Obama campaign can use "lack of experience" as an argument against McCain's ticket! What was he thinking?

  17. Every decision of McCain's is a blunder. I mean, come on! We're talking about someone who agreed with Bush 99% of the time!

  18. I knew she was on the short list.  I wouldn't say I was surprised, but it was still a bit unexpected.

Brilliant move.  She solidifies McCain with social conservatives and Reagan Democrats.

I think she's a good candidate.  The conservatives are stoked over this choice.

  19. Neither.  It's not a blunder because Palin does have a record of being very reforming and wanting to change the way politics works.  She is also in the dead center of the oil crisis debate and knows a lot about oil and US local drilling of it.  I'm sure she can learn some foreign relations tidbits to debate Biden.  But I don't think it's genius.  I would have liked somebody like Lieberman or romney.  So, I'm not crazily excited but I'll vote for McCain anyway.  I had made up my mind a long time ago.
