  1. If the independents favor putting into power people who are currently being investigated for corruption and the person states they have no idea what the job entails, then they should have no problem with Palin.

  2. I think he is going to lose a lot of the right-wingers, too. They don't like the idea of a woman in control of things.

  3. I don't think so. Most independents are slightly more conservative except for the few morons who consistently vote for Nader so I doubt choosing Palin will hurt McCain with independent voters.

  4. we have to wait and see. I doubt it though. So far most ppl are VERY happy with this pick.

  5. Read this article posted by another person on this site--

The Republicans are saying she has a 90 percent approval rating as governor from her fellow Alaskans.  This article points out that it has more recently slipped to 67 percent.  I enjoyed reading this article from a fellow Alaskan's point of view.  I hope all of you will read it.

  6. Yes, they are very particular people & this pick validated everything dems said about him.

  7. he'll get more independents

  8. I can't imagine picking up any but the most naive of women independant voters who are just dazzled at the thought of a woman regardless of the country.  Palin is so far to the right she makes McCain look like a democrat.

  9. I'm an independent and  at least a dozen of my friends are too... and McCain sealed our votes by choosing this young woman.. Good for him.. not afraid of a female like Obama was.

Not afraid to share the lime light like Obama.

Obama wants to be the star no matter what.  Ever stopped to ask yourself how someone who is so intent on having centre stage that they built themselves a shrine.. just how is that person going to be able to look after the rest of us when he is so busy shining  up his own image.

    NoBama for me!!!!!

  10. On the contrary this gives McCain something he never had before and will quite possibly score him some more votes. It used to be either "more of the same" or history in the making. With Palin on the the ticket there will be, for the first time, either a minority or a woman in or close to the presidency.

  11. McCain never won the independent vote to begin with.

Selecting Palin only raises more questions about judgement, especially when the pressure was on and the deadline loomed. McCain selected someone weaker than himself, and thus weakened the republican ticket.

Michael Palin has far more experience than the former mayor of Nowhere, Alaska.

  12. what a smart choice! he will gain in ind. and clinton females as well!

  13. He will now be assured of a win in Alaska! Hooha!

How many military and veterans will want a 44 year old Commander in Chief...much less one that could become pregnant while in office?

She is a strong pro-life Catholic who has had only 5 children. McCain is not well so any Veep of his would have to be ready to step into his job immediately.

Independent women voters have a higher percentage of pro-choice stances than Republican ones. This will certainly be an issue for them.

Most Americans live in urban areas and know that her experience as a mayer in a tiny Alaskan village doesn't prepare her for much.

Everybody hunts in Alaska, but not down here. I can't see that as being that much of a plus. One and a half years as Governor of a state that has few people isn't much better. She also was against listing the polar bear as an endangered species! Jeez Louise!

Obama had more experience than she does BEFORE he was a Senator. Although she was a heartbeat away from winning the Miss Alaska Pageant, I hardly think that any voter will count that as a big plus except for a few old geezers.

  14. Yes, she is not president material

  15. No I think he will pick up a few more. Palin has actually accomplished some of the things Bob Barr and Ron Paul talk about doing if given the chance.

  16. he already lost way before that circus act

  17. NO! BEING I'M A WOMAN AND INDEPENDENT I'M VOTING FOR MCCAIN/PALIN 2008.....PALIN IS A VERY SMART WOMAN WITH INTEGRITY ALSO  HER  INTELLIGENCE SHOW...MEN ALWAYS  HAVE LACKED  FAITH IN WOMEN AND HOW MUCH STRENGTH  A WOMAN HAS...DON'T UNDER ESTIMATE HER...I SAW HOW THE MEN FROM THE DEMOCRAT PARTY  HUMILIATEDED HILLARY CLINTON AND THEY ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!....I'M VOTING MCCAIN/ PALIN 2008.....

  18. Yes, he will, not only because she's a right winger, but she is unqualified. Voters will see this scam for what it is.

  19. h**l no

she has more experience then obam

  20. He'll lose votes because people (hopefully) aren't stupid enough to back someone with no experience whatsoever.

    He's lost by picking her.
