Is McCain in shock and Awe over pregnancy?

Honestly folks I simply can not believe that a guy like McCain would have touched Palin with a ten foot pole if he had known that her teenage daughter was pregnant out of wedlock?

Tell me what do you think did McCain honestly know about this or was he punked by Alaska's finest?

the state of politics in this country is pretty reprehensible.  on the one hand it would seem obvious that she wasn't vetted.  on the other, if they did know, it would be an obvious ploy to exploit this young ladies predicament in one of 2 ways.  either they really want to show that her parents are good anti-choice (pro-life) republicans with an everyday family, or they are baiting the lefties into making fodder out of the girls situation.  either way it would seem that there is a general consensus that the risk of giving this girl a jolly good mental mind **** is greatly outweighed by the opportunity to be v.p. and possibly win an election.

Palin's daughter has nothing to do with her campaign for VP, and NOTHING to do with McCains campaign for presidency. A teenager is not going to run the country.

Everyone deserves second chances...

And the fact that Pahlin's daughter is keeping the baby and not turning to abortion might actually make a statement to American teenage mothers. That is the option the conservatives believe in as well.

Teens have s*x, some get unluckier than others...but that's not what this election is about. So stop criticizing this hard working mother for her daughter's poor judgement, and focus on the real issues.

McCain had enough time to make a decision...I'm sure the pregnancy was no surprise to him.

Senior McCain campaign officials said McCain knew of the daughter's pregnancy when he selected Palin last week as his vice presidential running mate, deciding that it did not disqualify the 44-year-old governor in any way.

In the short period since she was announced last Friday, Palin has helped to energize the Republican Party's conservative base, giving the McCain camp fresh energy going into the campaign for the November 4 election against Democrat Barack Obama.

McCain officials said the news of the daughter's pregnancy was being released to rebut what one aide called "mud-slinging and lies" circulating on liberal blog sites.

According to these rumors, Sarah Palin had faked a pregnancy and pretended to have given birth in May to her fifth child, a son named Trig who has Down syndrome. The rumor was that Trig was actually Bristol Palin's child and that Sarah Palin was the grandmother.

A senior McCain campaign official said the McCain camp was appalled that these rumors had not only been spread around liberal blog sites and partisan Democrats, but also were the subject of heightened interest from mainstream news media.

"The despicable rumors that have been spread by liberal blogs, some even with Barack Obama's name in them, is a real anchor around the Democratic ticket, pulling them down in the mud in a way that certainly juxtaposes themselves against their 'campaign of change,'" a senior aide said.

well here is how it plays out.

Gov Palin gets a phone call from McCain staff that they are considering her for the VP slot and they would like to vette her. She sends them her resume and they do all kinds of searches on her. The McCain people ask Palin all sorts of questions about things like if she has ever used racial epithets in public or if she has any secrets that may come out.

At the point the governer is think there is no way anyone would be fool enough to pick me as a VP after all 2 years ago I was the mayor of a small town and I only got this job by fluke. So Palin does not disclose family secrets because if she did they would have become public and she would not have gotten the VP offer.

So after Palin is tied to McCain she tells McCain the truth.

McCain cant look like he was duped so he has to pretend he knew it all along.

Well his claimed he knew. I am doubtful, but at the same time I think that this would be something Palin would have disclosed.
