Is Melbourne a good city to study for uni?

i've been wanting to go to aus for uni but dunno which city is better. i think Melbourne is pretty good, but ppl have been saying its a pretty boring place... what do you think?

Melbourne is pretty good, but I'd suggest Sydney or Canberra. Canberra is really boring, but there a lot of international students at ANU (the disputed #1 university in Australia). It's kind of inclusive because it's not a major city cultural-wise.

Sydney is really good, it's such a great place/great people, but some people complain that it's dirtier and more polluted than Melbourne. USYD and UNSW are really good universities, and HEAPS of international/diverse students (probably moreso than in Melbourne).

You should be aware that changes are being made this year which abolish DFEE courses. What this means to you, basically, is that it's been suggested that even though the Government is going to subsidise universities, they're apparently going to give more places to internat. students to compensate.

My preferences right now (current year 12) prioritise:

1. USYD (University of Sydney)

2. UNSW (University of New South Wales)

3. ANU (Australian National University)

Both Melbourne and Sydney are fantastic cities but there is a fierce rivalry between them so you will get strong views on which city is best. If you are considering these two, i would suggest you consider which suits your lifestyle and personality best because they are very different.

I went to Melbourne University and had a great time. i would highly recommend staying at one of the residential colleges.
