  1. Maan! Don't believe everything you read, Melbourne was voted the best city in the world to live in. Crime rate is lower than Sydney and Brisbane, the food is great - you can eat any nationalities national cuisine,Nepalese, Jamaican, Russian and just they other day I found a Bhutanese place. Entertainment factor is also great, football ( all codes AFL, soccer, Rugby) excellent night life etc, etc,etc But remember one thing brother - all big cities have bad places and the secret is not to go there and you'll have a great time. Melbourne is cool.

  2. The news dont write about good things! Melbourne is great!

  3. I  was born and raised in Melbourne and I think it is like any place, if you hang around dodgy areas you put yourself more at risk.  If you walk around at night on your own, you put yourself at risk.  In 38 years I have never encountered any kind of violence...here or anywhere.  But I think Melbourne is a beautiful place to live and after living 8 years in a small country town in NSW, Melbourne is where I have come home to, to raise my own children.

  4. no matter where u go, there will alwalys be voilence.. its just in some parts of the world their is more than others,, this isnt the case for melbourne as the crime rate is very low compared to other cites in the world... u would never get sick of melbourne.. tones of stuff to do and it is safe..

born and raised in melb.. gota luv it

  5. It's no different to any other city in any other country in this world.

There are criminals and bad eggs everywhere you go.  Every town has seedy places that you keep away from to avoid trouble.

  6. It depends on where you go and when you go.

Some areas are more dangerous than others. If you wander around the CBD you will get bothered by beggars asking for spare change or cigarettes.

If you walk down dark alleys at night you might not be so safe.

During the daytime just about anywhere is safe.

I think compared to other cities in the world, its very safe. I feel much less safe walking around New York or London or even Sydney.

Take usual precautions and you will be fine.
