Is Mesh water proof?

I'm going white water rafting for the summer, and they don't provide water proof jackets. I have some mesh pants and I'm wondering if they're waterproof and if I could wear them without freezing my butt off.

Yeah mesh is "water proof" No fabric is actaully water proof but if you can definately wear mesh in the water with out damaging it! But mesh pants for water rafting? That sounds a little illogical to me. Mesh has holes in it and if your looking for something to keep you warm that isn't your answer! Try getting a wet suit. Those are water proof, keep you warm and are meant for cold conditions...good luck!

No, mesh has alot of spaces between the fabric, it would let a lot of water, and cold air in.
