Absolutely. Old school Metallica fans will tell you to grab a copy of Master of Puppets. I prefer their "newer" stuff and know the Black album inside and out. The S & M is album is wonderful too as the San Francisco orchestra backs them. I'm getting chill bumps just thinking about it! Ummm, can you tell I'm a fan?!?!?

No one is REQUIRED to listen to Metallica, therefore no it isn't mandatory. However(in my own opinion), Metallica kicks *** and anyone who wants to listen to them will like what they hear.

Mandatory as in how?  Listening to them?

No band is mandatory in that sense because everyone is an individual and therefore may or may not like them.  After all, we do have freedom of choice.
