Is Methadone used to treat Arthtitis pain?

I'm already on Ultram and they tried me on a Fentynal patch, but I was allergic to it. I was just wondering if they will try me on Methadone next, or if you have ever heard of arthritis pain being treated with Methadone?

If so did it help?

Not typically, actually, no pain medicine is going to "treat" arthritis.  It only masks the pain.  An anit-inflammatory or NSAID should be used to reduce the inflammation in the joints.

Try MSM powder, you can get it at health food stores. Methadone will leave you a zombie don't do it.

i guess you could if it was really really bad pain and other things arent working/there are reasons that they dont want to use them... thats a pretty big gun to jump to if you have previously just been taking tramadol but they may have a reason for it. the tramadol to the fentanyl patch was a big jump too. when you say you were "allergic" to it i have a feeling you just felt sick and tired on it because you werent opiod tolerant enough to use it from just taking a couple tramadol a day (most brands say right on front of the box FOR USE IN OPIOID TOLERANT PATIENTS ONLY, meaning people that have previously been taking decent sized doses of things like morphine, oxycodone, vicodin, etc. but many many drs seem to like ignoring that)

update: yeah youre probably allergic then. most of the time when people say they were allergic to it, the above happened
