  1. Well I live close to monterrey, Mexico and when I visit that huge city, there is about 4 walmarts, 30 seven elevens, 5 mcdonalds, KFC, Carls Jr, Apple bees, chilis, burger king, home depot, HEB, John Deere, Howard johnson, hilton inn, holiday inn, hampton inn, etc.  Who's getting rich with these companies?

  2. largely because Mexico has no national production... think about it, what is actually produced in mexico?

they have no natural resources at all...

the only thing mexico offers the world is cheap labour.

  3. Actually, Mexico is a very rich country: oil, minerals, agriculture, new business of manufacturing and assembly, telecommunications, tourism,...a growing economy. Ready to be a major player in world trade. The disparity between rich and poor is a major problem, plus education continues, in some areas,  at a low level. One of the fastest growing businesses is English language instruction...like it or not English is the number one language in the world for science, medicine, trade, diplomacy,.with Chinese a close second.

    Right on El Cid

  4. mexico is poor because its full of mexicans, and they have the collective ambition of overripe tropical fruit..

  5. sure some places the gov. suks balls it doesnt help the ppl that need help it only helps the rich ppl and most of the gov. is corrupt

  6. Well, try wikipedia, and see how mexico stats come out, is the 8 largest economy of the world? more like the 10th, is about the same size of the economy of spain or brazil, or south corea... has plenty of resourses, both natural and from industry, ....cd juarez , for example is  the city with more foreign invesment of all the cities in the world,  and its not true that all the industry comes from the US, take a look at the mexican stock exchange, you will see plenty of mexican firms, for example  America movil, is the largest supplier of mobile comunications in latin america, with markets in colombia, central america, brazil, etc, Cemex is the 2nd largest cement firm in world, Corona beer,  we have the largest producer of walnuts, all tequila is produce in mexico etc etc .....for making the story short is big and with plenty of opportunnities, very diversed,....but if you see our income per capita it only reaches $10,000 usd while the Us is something around $50 000 usd......when it comes around income, the higher the education, the smaller the gap between the same job in mexico and the USA. for example the top executive in Mexico of Coca Cola, earns as much as a  Coca cola executive of a branch the same size of the mexican branch in the USA (400,000 usd per year). An accountant with only college degree and no englsh skills earns around  17,000 usd a year, while a janitor with and average of 4 to 6 years of education will earn as low as 5 usd a day(minimum wage)....most of the people that finished high school are included in marketing research studies within the middle class of mexico , earning from  $800 usd to $3000 usd per month.

the big problem, mexico has an average of 5 years of education on most of the population....and the contrast between south of mexico and north are huge, there is cities like Chihuahua or Monterrey that have an average of 9-10 years of education. while in Chiapas  in the border with Guatemala the average in some towns goes as low as 3 years of education.....

There are municipios ( counties) that have an income percapita similar to some developed countries in Europe, like Benito Juarez in Mexico city or San Pedro in Monterrey, but we also have counties that have an income percapita similar to the poorest countries in Africa, most in the south east of Mexico.

Why we are a poor country? most of the answers comes to poor education, and the people that profit on ignorance and exploit it; politicians that promises a lot but in the end the only thing they do is create a circle of power and wealth for their own and their friends. Making wealth only posible for a few, and laws that they can break whenever they want.. mexico and all the poor countries in the world suffer from this...but mexico is changing and little by little we are making people respect the law, and making things easier in order to make the economy flow.... in the USA it only takes a few days to tamit  and open a new business, in mexico can take something like 60 days! corruption in between is high!!.

And for those who wordship Chavez, time will tell, let s see the results in 20 years, ....see how Chile finally gets out of the  third world, with a democracy runing, a private pension funds manage by banks, good taxin, and invesment in infrastructure along with better education.....and Chavez state own reforms?......the money will end up in a few mens pockets....... if you don´t believe me check Cuba, Soviet Union, etc, etc, etc...thank god  Venezuela is swiming in Oil.

And by the way is 300 families the one`s that holds 90 percent of  mexico´s wealth....But the story with the USA is no so different, and England, Canada, Spain, etc, etc, etc,

  7. Corrupted government, in Mexico the poor are dying of hunger while politicians fill their pockets with stolen money, thankfully leaders like the President of Venezuela, Peru, Argentina and many more are trying to work together and help the poor in all Latin America.

  8. México is NOT a very poor country.

The matter is the bad distribution of wealth.

Have you ever came to Mexico? It is not like an african country or Afganistán or Haití. We are richer than those.

México is actually the 8th economy in the world.

We have production, to export mainly to USA, many of the factorys are from USA capital. We also have tourism, vegetables for export, vehicles, and more.

But, we have some very poor areas too.

  9. Looking at it from a macro perspective, no.  The country has the 8th largest economy in the word and enjoys major economic prosperity from Tourism, Television and raw materials.  However, when drilling down deeper you see that despite the wealth that exists in the country there is a sharp divide between rich and poor.  ~40%-50% of the country lives below the poverty line.

  10. I don't think its as poor as they lead us to believe.I know they have better medical care better meds than we do and things are way cheaper there so how can they be so poor.I think they just want us to believe that so they can steel our country also.

  11. Mexico is very, very rich in culture and artistic creativity, unlike its (financially) richer neighbour. Until the discovery of oil, Mexico has suffered from the lack of vast natural resources, and with a large population, it has struggled to grow economically. The unequal balance of trade with the USofA has not helped Mexico. Mexico exports farm produce to its northern neighbour but has been unable to get a fair price for them, and so has been unable, in turn, to raise wages for its agricultural workers. Hopefully, Chavez is trying to create a Latin trading region where more equitable trade policies could help its members to obtain fairer prices for their exports.

  12. Yes, and it's down to goverment.

  13. I know that Mexico is the most polluted city - or so i heard anyway

  14. The country is owned by about 6 families. You have to steal a lot from others to do that.

  15. actually if its one thing mexico has its natural resources. the problem is it has all been exploited and the government is very corrupt so theyve done nothign to safeguard them.
