  1. Parts of Mexico are considered to be a malaria area. My blood was rejected by the San Diego Blood Bank. When you go to give blood they will ask if you have traveled abroad and they have maps of malaria locations.

  2. When I give blood there are always a series of questions particularly if you have travelled abroad. They are interested in knowing where in Mexico you have travelled since they feel that parts are a malaria risk

  3. When I donated blood they asked me if I had been to Mexico recently and one of my friends wasn't allowed to donate because she had been there, so I'm assuming it is.  You should probably call the Red Cross and ask them just to be sure.

  4. Parts of Mexico are considered a malaria area. If you stay in the tourist areas then you will be fine. The problems are in the out lying areas.  Because I went to outside of Cancun I could not donate for one year.
