  1. Well, most violence in Mexico, like beheading and stuff, is targeted towards people that are inside drug cartels. If you are dealing with drugs and have enemies in Mexico, well, there might be a chance that you could be killed and beheaded. Besides, it is not legal to carry guns in Mexico; I guess there are people in the UK that also carry guns illegally, that happens everywhere.

People that do that type of stuff OBVIOUSLY will do it in touristic areas cause they wanna s***w up the government. Some drug lords say that people in the government are involved with drugs, so, if they create the impression that Cancun is unsafe, less tourists will go, and therefore they will win "the war"

My advice: common sense. Cancun and all the area around Cancun is safe. Don't do things that you wouldn't do at home. I bet there are parts in London and other cities that you wouldn't visit at all. Same in Mexico. Violence is getting tough, I know, but you're not their target, so don't worry :)

  2. it can be dpedning where you go

don't go to over crwoded drunk areas lot of violence and rape

there's a lot of tropical area there and it fun to relx but if you never been there before bring some medcine cause the climate there it more dry so ti can cause some nausea and dihrrea  so bring something cause it will get you sick depending howdry and hot it is but you will get sick so bring some medicine and go more into a turist area like acapulco there's a lto of american turist there and it's very beautiful :)

  3. Unless you plan to vacation in one of the border cities with a bunch of drug dealers, you will be perfectly safe.  Why is it Americans can point out incidents of crime in Mexico and totally ignore crime in the U.S .?   Remember 3 months ago when 7 women were shot in a Lane Bryant store in a mall?  That kind of thing never happens in Mexico.  How about all the school shootings in the U.S.?  Do you keep your kids home from school?  Have you stopped going shopping? Just like you would not vacation in  South Central Laos Angeles, but would feel safe in Beverly Hills...you can certainly go to Cancun safely.  It is actually an island of "America" in Mexico...like going to Disneyworld.  A really nice place...but certainly not like real life.

  4. Ok first of all that is kind of a stupid question, Mexico is perfectly safe.

even the bad parts of mexico are not all that bad. most Mexican people are hard working people. The place to visit in Mexico though is Cancun.

  5. its safe.

just dont go into places that are like the ones you would not go to in your home area.

also remember, crime is everywhere: a german tourist was stabbed to death in santa monica, california; the volleyball coach's dad was stabbed to death during the olympics in beijing; the little girl was kidnapped in portugal....you wont escape it.

so my advise: enojoy life, visit as much of this world as you can, but always be safe.

have fun in cancun...i loved it there.

  6. Mexico used to be pretty safe in the larger tourist cities.  However, this is quickly changing.  Just today I found and article about 11 people being beheaded down in the yucatan (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/wo...  Tourism is a huge source of revenue for Mexico, and unfortunately, within a few more years, I don't think anybody will want to travel there due to all of the violence taking place.  Its beginning to happen all over, although there are some places more prone to this violence than others.  My wife and I got married in Cancun a few years ago and had a blast.  It is definitely a fun place to visit.  However, in the wake of these beheadings, kidnappings, etc.  I think we'll be swapping out Maui (Hawaii) for our annual vacations as opposed to going back to Mexico.  It's a real shame, but I don't think the Mex. govt. is going to be able to stop this violence any time in the next 20 years.

  7. If you are careful, you'll be all right.

You have to take normal security measures. Do not flash money, don't go to unsafe places, don't walk alone at night, etc.. and you shouldn't have any problems.

And, specially being a tourist, you aren't really in much danger.... It's the people that actually live in Mexico that have to worry, because they're the ones that kidnappers or robbers can investigate freely and can attack.

PS. Cancun is gorgeous. You'll love it!
