What do people think about Micah for a girl? I know it's traditionally a boy's name, but in my baby names book it is listed as a girl's name too, and I kinda like it.

What do people think?

  1. no, i do not like it for a girl. it is a good strong boy name. i don't like unisex names. i like feminine, pretty names for girls.

  2. the only micah i've met was a girl, and i like it as a girl's name.

  3. My advice is to avoid gender ambiguous names, or names that are usually assigned to the opposite gender.  Too much hassle for the kid down the road.

  4. I have a German friend named Maike - pronounced Micah. I think it's a lovely name.

  5. I like it for both.  One of the sweetest young ladies I've ever known was named Micah.

  6. I think it's beautiful for a girls name. I think it's a soft name for a girl but it works well for both sexes.

My nieces name is Mika (pronounced Mee-ka) which is similar to Micah.

  7. i think it is cute, and unique, im actually gonna name my girl (when i am old enough and if i even have 1) zane or aiden

  8. I love Micah for a boy, but not for a girl.  It is a boy's name and it should stay that way.

Maike/Meike is actually a nickname for Miriam.  It's originally Dutch I think.  Nothing to do with "Michael"
