  1. No but you might be...generally you can't spell or write and are functionally illiterate.  So instead of worrying about someone who is clearly using his gift to compete, set goals for himself and be a fine, upstanding, classy Olympian, perhaps you should hit the books?  What do you say to that?

  2. you're the r****d here buddy

  3. No, he isn't mentally retarded.

He was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder as a child, and, like many such children, has both struggled with it and learned to cope with it as he matured.

ADHD affects way more boys than girls, and although those who have it are often highly intelligent, they can encounter difficulty in school because of their inability to focus, pay attention, and behave appropriately.

Phelps has found that the routine and regimentation of swimming and training helps him to overcome his ADHD.  Kids with ADHD often excel in activities which direct their attention and focus to a very specific goal because such intense concentration allows them to block out distractions.  When they find something they LOVE to do and are good at, they can be hugely successful.

Michael Phelps should be a shining example to kids with ADHD.  If he can do great things, so can they ... although sometimes they feel they can't do anything right.

  4. it's really rude how you asked it.

as a teacher with experience in special education, it's kind of offensive.

  5. It's amazing when given the chance what the mentally retarded can do.

One need only look at his dullard expression, odd shaped overbite, sloped forehead, and freakishly large ears to reach a single conclusion. "Down syndrome". This is not a face that will look good on a wheaties box. Maybe he should do an ad for electroconvulsive therapy and mini- school bus helmets.

  6. You should take some spelling classes yourself. obviosly?

    Mind your own d**n business.

  7. when they interview phelps he acts like he's retarded really well

  8. no

    he has adhd

  9. Yes, there is something definitely wrong with him. It's not a bad case of retardation,  but he's not 100% there all the time. He is indeed a very well swimmer.

  10. Haha, "raped by Phelp's fans"

That was hilarious, even though I'm a Phelp's fan but I still think that was funny.

He has ADHD, he's not special ed.

  11. Looks like a r****d, talks like a r****d, must be a r****d.  Phelps is the swimming savant.  He's a great swimmer.  But, Mark Spitz won 8 gold medals and set all those world records wearing a regular speedo not a NASA engineered super suit; plus spitz wore no swim cap and sported long hair and a huge mustache.  What the heck could Mark Spitz have done with all the modern technology available to Phelps?  Plus Mark Spitz has a brain!

  12. He may be slightly "retarded".  ADHD has nothing to do with it.  He just acts like a complete tool most of the time.  Legend shmegend.

  13. NO. He has ADHD and also has marfans disease, which is when your wing span of your arms is longer than your height. He's actually just fine.

  14. I think there is definitely something "off" about him. I couldn't quite place it - autism? Some slight form of mental retardation? It is probably not PC to discuss it during the Olympics, but I think it will come out later.

He has a very narrow palate, unusually long arms, and a completely vacant look in his eyes. Plus, he seems freakishly focused.

That said, congratulations to him for his awesome athleticism.

  15. Having ADHD might contribute to his drive to win.

  16. Michael Phelps may not be retarted, but he sure looks it. Sorry Phelps, all those gold medals won't change the way you look, now go take some Adderall and play fishie in the pool.

  17. He has ADHD ok.

  18. LOL, no. He has Attention Deficit Disorder, but so do a lot of people.

  19. He has ADHD but is not retarded.  Your friend needs to get a life and stop bagging out other people because her life is of no substance.

  20. umm nancy t sounds like idiot to me...

yeah mark spitz had *7 gold medals

every other swimmer of his time wore a regular speedo and no cap and goggles

every other swimmer against phelps wears the special suit and has every advantage..hence even playing field

phelps practices a h**l of alot more than spitz did

and who are you to judge someone you dont even know?

  21. no. he does have ADHD though, i hardly consider that special ed.

  22. Nope.

  23. Who cares if he had speech classes or was in special ed. What does that have to do with anything? I've heard nothing about this.

  24. He has ADHD. and you probably know someone with it too.

  25. He's not retarted but he does has some learning disablities and when he was young he had ADHD. I dont know about you but i LOVE him!!!

  26. you sound like a tard yourself

  27. hes got "ADD" like everyone else in america

  28. I've often wondered if he's a got a high functioning autistic spectrum disorder. One of the charities he's a participant in is  for Autism.  It can go with ADHD sometimes.  And no, that doesn't mean he's retarded.

  29. are you serious? i think you are the r****d he is one of the greatest athletes of all time!!

  30. No, yeah i also heard that he has ADD. But who does that effect his performance...clearly it doesnt...he has how many medals under his belt now????

  31. I am sure you now realize that he has ADHD.  I just want to clear up what "hey" said.  Micheal Phelps does not have Marfans Syndrome.  He was tested for this and is tested every year because of his longer wingspan than height.  That is actually just a symptom of Marfans syndrome which is a disorder that can affect the heart, heart valves, and the aorta.  Micheal assures us in his autobiography that his heart is in good shape.
