I see this question in the Golf forum all the time posted by people who know nothing about Golf that are trying to stir up some controversy. I know nothing about swimming, and I dont think he is on anything, but I want to see the reactions of Phelps fans...will they defend him or are they wondering themselves.

  1. Didn't NBC say he takes 4-5 hours of tests daily? I doubt he is, lol.

  2. LOL...i keep thinking the same thing when i see him lead over others...I am very happy that he is winning...but i am afraid that they'll find it in him   soon.

  3. No, hes just superhuman.

Actually, he is definitely NOT on steroids.  He has volunteered to take Extra drug tests in the Olympics to prove that he is clean. Nice move on his part.

  4. I doubt hes on steroids i think its just hard work and determination.

And if he was would have gotten caught by now because at the Olympics he has go through a drug test everyday

  5. you don't have to be big to be on steroids...

  6. No, they have to test after every race.

  7. i doubt that he is but wont be surprised  if he's exposed as a fraud. some  more crying and ''please forgive me'' from American athletes.

  8. Definitely. I'm sure it will come out at some time. Someone breaking every world record when he races? Racing over 20 races and still winning? The body is designed that no matter HOW you train it it has a limit to how much it can use the anaerobic system. His body should not be able to do that many races within a couple of days.

  9. I don't think so, but he might be lying just like the chinese gymnasts who are saying the are 15 16 and 20. They look fricking 10!

  10. No, I don't think so. Because after he swims he is very tired and usually people on steroids don't pant after a competition.

  11. I think he just has the drive to be that good. I think he trains the majority of the day. When you have that sort of drive, then comes perfection, stamina, and perseverance.. which is what it takes to be the best.

They said he was picked on alot as a kid and I think now that he is trying to be someone and prove them wrong. I totally LOVE him... He's great!

    Go Michael Phelps!!!!!

  12. NO!

Michael Phelps is the best and he wuld  never do that

  13. well i would said he probably isn't.

but one can never be sure.

i think it is natural for people to be suspicious given that he has broken the world records in each of the individual event that he has participated in and also in the team event too.

but he is clean unless proven to on any performance enhancing drugs.

Volunteering for additional or more stringent drug test does not mean the person is 100% clean, such enthusiasm is to prove one clean before the fingers started pointing. But it could also arouse suspicion why the guy is so enthusiastic to be tested, it could be he hasn't taken any illegal substance or he is confident the current testing system cannot detect the substance. And that substance probably cannot be detected after sometime.

"And, as with other Olympic sports, there can never be any certainty that performance-enhancing drugs are not involved. As history has shown with the disgraced track star Marion Jones and revelations about swimmers from the former East Germany, passing a drug test is no guarantee that banned substances are not being used."

"Critics suspect that the suit aids buoyancy in the water, in violation of performance-enhancing rules set by the international swimming federation, known as FINA. Alberto Castagnetti, the Italian national swim coach whose team wears a rival brand, has equated the Racer with “technological doping.” Some say the suit can boost performance as much as 2 percent; that can mean the difference between a gold medalist and an also-ran."

"More sophisticated pool design has also helped to dissipate wave action. The pool in Beijing is three meters deep, compared with two meters for many racing pools. The added depth is designed to lessen resistance."

i am surely amazed at his performance and also wonder at the same time, "is he an alien from outerspace or could he be a clone of the alien?"

someone could also have found some neat tricks

  14. NO! they do HEAVY checking before all olympic events, even for the trials. all because he's a really good athlete doesn't mean he's on steroids or PED (perfomance enhancing drugs). if he was on steroids, i'd be hugely disappointed.

  15. He's not b/c he goes under drug testing everyday...if he was on steroids then he wouldn't have been able to swim his events.

  16. NO , he gets tested for EVERY kind of drug , EVERYDAY!!!

If these people would watch the Olympics they would know about his daily routine and would see that he gets tested everyday around 2-3 o'clock!

Go Phelps, we're all behind you!

  17. hes not big and bulky like if he was on steroids he just has the perfect body for swimming

  18. lol. People who think this are silly. If you work that hard for 15 years, and work out about everyday, your bound to get muscle! Why is it that every time someone is really good at something, people have to ruin it by blaming everything on steroids??? Just because someone has muscle, and is a really good competitor doesn't mean they use any kind of drug! People who make that stuff up are obviously attention seekers. It's very sad.

  19. Is he immune to fatigue? What's the secret behind the streak of falling records? A new wonder drug that boxes circles around the IOC? The world may never know!! I guess he might be using but we cannot go judging people without clear proofs. If he uses that his problem ans is a big cheater!!

  20. No, he's stated in many interviews that he in the pool more than 5 hours a day, (can you imagine) his daily routine is sleeping, eating and swimming all he does with his life is swim, he's just very disciplined about what he want to do with his life... and obviously very passionate about the sport...

  21. Absolutely not!

Michael Phelps is rigorously tested for drugs and steroids. The Olympic committee tests all athletes at least once a day, and maybe more.

Just because someone can do something so amazingly, like Michael Phelps or Tiger Woods, doesn't mean they're on steroids. Honestly, people should put more faith in the quality of athletes.

  22. I'm not a No.1 Phelps fan, but I believe he is not on steroid. This is so, because I myself is a swimmer, and I put myself in his shoes.

He is just build for swimming. He basically has the natural-bodily apparatus that aids him in swimming, his size 14 feet, height of 1.93m, and more than 2m wing-span already give him a considerable amount of advantage in swimming. Given additional training over the years, and being able to condition himself mentally, he basically is the Greatest natural Olympian. Mind you, he is a very disciplined sportsman as well.

One word that can describe him best is definitely "Admirable". and people who mentions him on steroid would probably just "Jealous'' of the Man who aims to get 8 gold medals and break 8 world records, all that while looking so cool and composed..lol

Way to go Mr. Phelps! I enjoys watching you sweeping gold medals :D

  23. Nope. He's just the best swimmer ever born!

  24. I'd say he's not, even though he's like, a freak of human nature being that he's so good, and so hot!

  25. he gets tested before each race so no he is not on any steroids

  26. it's almost a certainty that he is using some sort of performance enhancer, think marion jones who broke world records denied being on anything and everyone said they were above it. there's been plenty of guys with similar characteristics as Phelps and nobody broke 8 records or got 8 golds. with drugs like the clear. we may never know who was on what. people that were n the clear offered to take lots of tests because it's undectable

  27. With all of the drug tests he volunteered for, it is highly unlikely, but possible. I personally don't think you can be in the olympics using steroids without being caught.

  28. Well, it's hard to say; no one can fully trust these athletes these days.  Everyone wants to be a winner or famous, and they'll do anything to get it done, even if it's for a minute. They always test them, but there's always some shocking crazy news years after. IT'S HARD TO CELEBRATE THEIR WIN.

  29. You're forgetting the strict guidelines the Olympic Committee has towards PED. Especially since the whole Marion Jones thing The athlete's are tested regularly. So unless He got a free pass I highly doubt He is on Steroids. But I could be wrong. The US Olympic Committee had to become extra hard to make sure the steroid bonanza didn't happen again.

  30. steroids would make him really big, yeah...??? he's actually kinda slender, slim and has a surfer body...more like...very in shape, but looks natural to me =)

  31. doping is under heavy scrutiny in the olympics and they test everyone before and after the races. Phelps even agreed to additional testing just so he could prove he's clean.

i think the main problem is that people just always gotta have something to ***** about. most of the ones doing this have no understanding or experience as to what its like to be an athlete.

back in '04 Athens he was pretty pissed and he started training the day he got back home.

whats so wrong with actually being inspired and awed by increadible feats of human abilities? its amazing what a little hard work, desire and dedication can do for a person.
