Question:

Is Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable necessary?

Is something going to go wrong when I'm going to uninstall it? Is my computer going to freeze or something? Mainly, the programs I use are

1. GIMP

2. Firefox

3. LimeWire

4. Y!Messenger

5. iTunes

6. PowerCinema

7. Adobe Shockwave Player

8. AutoCAD 2007

And that's it. When I uninstalled a game (The Sims 2) because of lack of disk space then the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable appeared at the add/remove programs. Then it sort of caused havoc in my computer. Then it slowed my Internet Browser. I can't use my Y!Messenger at all too. I can't copy songs from the iTunes to my iPod. I can't use the Search Companion and it said "A File is required to run Search Companion cannot be found. You may need to run setup.". I can't uninstall iMesh. And two programs popped up saying that "This application has caused Runtime to terminate it in an unsual way." when I opened my computer. It's driving me crazy really.

HELP.

  1. Some programs may require it so they can work properly.

    I would not remove it.

If your HDD needs to be cleaned try to remove other old programs, perform a disk clean, emptying recycle bin, deleting or compacting images that you don't need to use and other stuff.
