Is Milano closed on August 16?

Hello I'm travelling to milano on aug. 16, i just want to know if the shops r closed or not. Because i'll be there only for one day just for shopping so r they closed or opened?

Probably a lot of shops will be closed, is the day after Ferragosto, the main holiday of italian summer. Usually shops, restaurants and so on are closed for all the Ferragosto week.

Actually I am from Milan and I can tell you that August 15 is Ferragosto, a national holiday. That day everything is closed, but the day after everything should have a regular schedule. Keep in mind that many italians have vacations in August  therefore the bigger cities (like Milan) in that month tend to be kind of desert!

I am afraid you will find most of the shops shut, what kind of shopping had you in mind?

most will unless they are tourist places. This week is the Italian hoilday week and most places are closed this week.
