Is Milwaukee Bucks free-agent Michael Redd the right answer for Chicago Bulls? NBA Report
Chicago Bulls achieved the best record (62-20) in the previous regular-season and grabbed the top spot in the Eastern Conference. Under the coaching of Tom Thibodeau the Bulls did extremely well as they took a good leap forward
within no time.
Keeping their regular performance in view most of the analysts were off the view that this time it’s going to be Chicago, which would lift the Larry O’Brien trophy. Especially with the alluring performance of the 2011 Most Valuable
Player Derrick Rose, who almost single-handedly won many games for the sides the Bulls were hot favourite to win the championship.
Rose was averaging 25.0 points, 4.1 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game during the regular-season. He also didn’t disappoint in the postseason run, where he scored with an average of 27.1 points along with 4.3 rebounds and 7.7 assists
per game.
Rose was phenomenal against both the Indiana Pacers and Atlanta Hawks in the first and second round respectively. Rose tallied more than 30 odd points twice against the Pacers and thrice against the Hawks that also features an
extraordinary 44 point effort.
However, luck ran out of their favour in the finals of the East against the mighty Miami Heat, which was led by three headed monster LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. This was the first and last series in which Rose’s average
was below 25 points, but it was not Derrick who should be blamed for the loss. Infect it was the remaining roster that failed to support the youngest MVP and the Heat won the best of the seven game series by 4-1.
The specific position that didn’t come to rescue the Bulls was of shooting guard. Small forward Luol Deng, power forward Carlos Boozer and centre Joakim Noah were solid on their spots. However neither Keith Bogans nor Kyle Korver
performed well at the shooting guard position. Bogans is not much of a scorer and Korver relies more on his distant shooting to score his points. In addition to that both players cannot create their own shot in order to help Rose get out of trouble.
Therefore, the Bulls were looking fill that gap by hiring a new player. NBA analysts made several suggestions in this regard, but most of them were either lacking something in play and the ones who had no insufficiencies were too
expensive to acquire.
Enter Milwaukee Bucks free-agent Michael Redd.
The 31 year old shooting guard has finally made a comeback after 14 months from the knee injury. It didn’t take him much time to show some of his old sparks even after missing three seasons of basketball.
When Redd was on his peak, he was considered as one of the top scorers in the league, as he can create his own shot and had a remarkable precision from the three-point range. Prior to the lockout the Bucks were planning to land
him again in the side from the free agency market, but Redd was interested in joining the forces with the top contenders of the East.
Redd seems to be a perfect solution for the Bulls shooting guard problem and Chicago is the best side for Michael, if he is looking for a glorious end to his career. This match can devastate the opposition if the injury prone Redd
keeps himself in good shape.
