It seems to be in pre-mature stages.

If not forgotten, remember the days when mobile phones users were getting bills even though they didn't make calls. Bcoz there was a problem of duplication. Then there were net-based frauds where user details were hacked (phishing)

One question does loom large, what if my details get hacked?

One should wait a while before changing from a current banking method to the new tech.

Even though the tech may be promising, everything has a pro & con.
