I wanted to try modeling but someone had told me that if the agency asks you for money up front, that its a rip off. Model Scouts asks you for $129.99. Is it nesscary or are they just ripping you off?

  1. Their just trying to cash in on every girl's dream. You know how many girls want to be models??? There are so many that scouts are really not needed. Maybe what you are paying for is a portfolio? i guess that is worth $129.

  2. Rip off!

  3. Rip off.  I'm a paid promotional model, and the advice I would give you is to find a local promotional model company that is legit.  You get paid very well for it.  Real companies do not require you to pay money up front - they just want to take the money and tell you you need to "be picked in casting calls and they will promote you to make it happen."  Find some local photographers to photograph you so you can have a portfolio - TFP (time for prints) or TFCD (time for CD) is what you want.  They don't make you pay them to have your pictures taken, they don't pay you.  Their pay is the experience as a photographer, and your pay is the pictures you get on it from the prints or CD.  Good luck to you : )  I made it, so I bet you can too!
