I purchased a Bearded Dragon about three days ago. I gave him time to get used to his surroundings. Today I put him into a plastic box and took him to get a friend. The person I took him to checked to see what s*x him was and found that he was a boy. So I purchased a girl for him. Not alot older, only about 2 weeks older. Any way I brought him back home and put him and her into his viv. I tryed to pick him up and put him infront of his food dish so he and she could eat some crickets.

He puffed out his beard and his spikes 'stood up'. Eventually I picked him up. He was in my hand and again puffed out him beard and his spikes 'stood up'. I put him on him basking log and he sat there, beard out, spikes up. My question is: Is he angry with me or trying to impress the new girl? He started to do press ups to her with beard out and spikes up. Other info you might need: He is seven weeks old and She is 9 weeks old. I held him before and he didnt do what he did today and She ate all the crickets(lol).

  1. They are very territorial so you have to be careful when you ad new Berdies to the equation. If he keeps it up I would separate them

  2. kitty cats right first off they are much too young to be mixing the sexes, they dont know what age to breed so theyll do it anyway and itsvery aggressive and they shoould not be mixed untill they are 2 years old and only by a proffessional breeder who knows what they are doing, they cant live together he will kill herm they are mixed for breeding then seperated, the behaviour he is showing is aggression dont think for one minute hes trying to impress her becaus it wont be long before hes trying to kill her they are xtremely territorial and to be hnest you should have done a bit of reasearch before trotting off to get a friend for him, male beardies dont needs friends,   your his friend!!!  you really need to get her out of there asap honestly, take her back to the shop and tell that pet shop owner he should no better in sted of just trying to make a sale!!! the pressups hes doing is a display of dominance his skin colour will pale, his beard will go black and h**l puff it out and bob his head up and down, eventually h**l attack and it will be her eyes he goes for she could get seriously hurt, also its real stressful for him too h**l become exhausted with all that head bobbing and threats, minewas doin it constantly for days and my female wasnt even in the same tank she was across the room but he could see her, he new she was there coz my boyfriend bought me a female as a surprise and when i came home she was in the tank and he was in th in the process of dragging her by the neck with his teeth across the floor of he tank she was in a really bad way and i thought she would die but luckily shes okay now, you dont wantthat to happen to yours.   im sorry to waffle on but i cant stress enough get her back to the shop and give that guy the bollocking of his life!!!    oh and by the way where did you get him from at 7 weeks old?? the same shop i guess?? thats very very young to be sold already.

  3. what r u trying to do!!!!!!!! kill the girl if your trying to breed them they are to young they are going to have problems and the consequenses might be fatal to both of them. get another tank for her so they're not in the same one. the boy might also get agressive. i had a boy and girl in the same tank and the boy took out my girls eye and gave her brain damage she died a week later.

  4. The bearded dragon could be scared of his new enviorment, wait a week and try and pick him up again.  And maybe you should seperate them
