I have a 2003 BMW 325i with 2 12" Alpine Type R SWR-1242D subwoofers and 2 Kenwood KAC-8103D 1000 watt amps sitting in a ported enclosure with a Dual XD7600 head unit. I have been getting ok bass from my subs but I know they have so much more potential in them. I have just purchased a Kicker ZX100.2 amplifier and want to know what will be the best way to go to set up my system to match my subwoofers. I was originally planning on just running the new Kicker amp and 1 of the Kenwoods to my subs because I know how good of quality the Kicker amps produce and do not want to overload my subs. Should I just run the Kicker & 1 Kenwood amp to the subs or the Kicker and both Kenwood amps or just the Kicker?? And whatever answer is provided, please also specify the setup that will require the least modifications to my system and will produce the best output! I am aware that the Kicker ZX100.2 won't give an enormous gain but I do know that I should definately feel the difference from my Kenwoods!

  1. Ok,First off the kicker model amp you mentioned is only a 100 watt amp.So at this point the kicker is usless to the subs.Second, your kenwood model amps you mentioned are ACTUALLY 500 watts each and not 1000watts.I believe your subs are dual voice coil and each coil is 500 watts Rms.Your depriving them of 500watts.But to upgrade 1000 watts of power will reqiure a wire ,battery and possibly an alternator upgrade.Thats the leats modifications that would need be done.

Your best bet would be to upgrade to 2 kicker model amps in replace of the kenwoods.Or a single  kicker model amp thats 1000 watts rms @ 2 ohms. You might get the sound you want from the kicker amps.

    Hope this helps
