Question:

Is My Clothes Dryer Overheating?

I recently moved and re-connected my dryer. When I turned it on, it smelled like it was on fire (lol I bought a fire extinguisher before turning it on thinking this might happen). Even when I turned the heat level on low, it smelled firey/smokey. What could be the problem...trapped lint? What should I do!?

  1. The other thing you should check is the dryer vent. You can take this apart yourself but I use a professional. They come in and take

apart the long hose and clean it out entirely. I have this done every two years. You would be amazed at how much hair and line get trapped even though I am religious about cleaning the lint trap every timeI use the dryer. The dryer vent and hose are the main cause of fires in dryers.

  2. A long flexible bristle brush can help remove lint.

QVC sells them, I think Fuller Brush is the maker.

You might find something similar at a Dollar Store, Walmart, or Target.

  3. i guess is more on electrical problems... maybe the link from my source will help you...
