  1. Barbs - Not cold water - tropical

Bloodfin Tetra - Not cold water - tropical

Beunos Airies Tetra - Not cold water - tropical

Croaking Tetra - Not cold water - tropical

Guppy - Not cold water (room temp okay but not ideal

Pearl Danio - Yes - mid 60's to mid 70's

Wimple - Not familiar with these fish

White Cloud Mountain Minnow - Best cold water fish you can find! (They are EASY and very beautiful, flashy little fish)

Zebra Danio - Yes - mid 60's to mid 70's

Black Molly - Not cold water

Goldfish - Cold water yes, the colder the better

Although some of  these fish can live in cooler water temps such as guppies, they are more prone to disease.  Also tetras need a special ph (acidic) versus alkaline for goldfish.  Also, mollies are brackish water fish (some salt) and need temps in high 70's to  low  80's.  Mollies are also very prone to disease when stressed (cold water for example).

Goldfish are true cold water fish - the colder the better.  Cold water holds more "useable" oxygen which these fish need a lot of.

White Cloud Mountain Minnows are awesome little fish.  Super easy keepers.  And yes - cold water is the best.  I have a WCM species tank -- 30 fish in an 18 high gal,  loads of live plants, and good filtration.  I have the tank set up by my couch in the living room so I can admire, and be entertained by these lively little fish whenever I sit down and take a rest : )

  2. Tetras, mollies, barbs, guppies,  and danios are not coldwater fish. What in the world is a wimple?

  3. Hi Amba, how big is your tank? As you already appear to have 6 Goldfish you should be running at least a 60 gallon set up which at 10 gallons per Goldy is already fully stocked.

Because Goldfish have no compatible tank mates except other Goldies you cannot add any of the fish off the list-some of which are tropical so you would also be running a temperature imbalance for some of the community.

  4. Those are all incorrect. Although some of those are able to survive cold temperatures, goldfish release a lot of ammonia and would kill all those tropical fish you mentioned. The only fish that can be kept with goldfish is koi, and dojo loaches. Also, since minnows and white clouds are coldwater fish, they can also sometimes do good with goldfish. Also, since you have 6 goldfish, you should have at least a 30 gallon tank. Good luck.

  5. Goldfish and White Cloud Minnows are the only cold water fish on that list.  The rest are all tropicals that need temperatures in the mid to high 70's.

I hope that the fish you already have are living in at least an 80 gallon tank or pond.

EDIT:  A molly is not a cold water fish. They can tolerate temperatures in the lower 70's but don't do well.  Cold water fish are those that can survive in low temperature water.  Goldfish will actually survive in a pond in winter as long as it doesn't freeze solid.

  6. Hi fin sharks are often kept with goldfish and koi.  They are peaceful fish and available in lengths from 2 inches up to around 10 inches but may grow even larger than that.

Stickbacks, American Flag Fish, paradise fish are just some of the fish that do well in unheated tanks.

  7. Cold water would actual be more for the goldfish.

Tropical Freshwater is usually used for the other species listed. They all require a heater and most cant handle temps under 70*

*Goldfish and Tropical Freshwater should not be kept together

  8. All the barbs, tetras, danio, and molly require heaters. Feeder guppies don't require a heater but the fancy do.

Goldfish and the mountain minnow are cold water fish. I have comet goldfish, shubunkin, sarasa, and white clouds out in a pond.

  9. Most of those fish are tropical fish.

  10. the white cloud mountain minnows are coldwater

and danios are in if the water does not drop below 18c

  11. goldfish is the only coldwater one.....

  12. The only cold water fish are:

    Goldfish

    White Cloud Mountain Minnow

Long Fin White Cloud Mountain Minnow
