I have a 29 gallon fish tank with:

4 Guppies

2 Clown Loaches

2 Small breed angels

2 dwarf frogs

2 red sunset dwarf gouramis

1 pleco.

Is my tank overstocked or is it ok?

If it is overstocked i will find a home for my angels.

  1. Again, there is NO such thing as min angels. The reason why they're mini is because they are placed in a small tank and are stunted. Stunted means their body stops growing but their organs don't.

Plus the Clown Loaches grow up to a foot long, and 2 should be in a minimum of 100 gallons.

Assuming you Pleco IS dwarf (Clown, Rubbernose, Bristlenose, etc.), and you get rid of the Clown Loaches and Angels (meaning move them to a proper sized tank), then no your tank isn't overstocked.

    E-mail me for any questions!

  2. Yes, your tank is overstocked:

    1. When your pleco grows your tank will be too small for him ALONE

    2. The clown loaches will get too big (12" long each) - also, they are schooling fish and should be in groups of no less than 6.

    3. Sometimes 2 gouramis will fight with each other. They are better alone or in big groups so that aggression is spread out.

    4. There is no such thing as "small breed angels". If your fish store told you that then they are either lying to you just to make a sale or they have no idea what they are talking about. Either way you shouldn't trust them again. Your angels are most likely babies - I don't think they would get stunted in a 29g.

Here is what I would do: Keep the angels and get rid of the loaches and the pleco (they won't be able to live in that tank forever) and one of the gouramis. Then I would get 6 small coris for bottom feeders and call it a day. But hey, it's your tank!

    Good luck!

  3. Find a home for those clown loaches.  Those guys are bad choices for the average home aquarium and get huge and aggressive as adults, much like chinese algea eaters which are also bad choices in terms of bottom feeders.  If you want a loach, stick with something like a dojo or zodiac loach.

Your angels regardless of being drawfs or not should be fine in that tank assuming it has decent depth.  The gouramis are fine and sunsets are pretty placid anyway but I'd watch them with the guppies.

And unless you have a legitimate small breed of pleco like a bristlenose you might want to rehome that sucker as they get over a foot long and aren't really suitable to anythign under a 55 gallon tank.  The common pleco that most get is not a good choice

I wouldn't call your tank overstocked at this point, just a few choices of stock you might want to reconsider.
