With Erfurt, Weimar and Eisenach, you've got your cities covered. You could then visit "Die drei gleichen", three castles on three mountains quite close to one another. And if you are interested in history at all, one of my visits to Erfurt included a visit to the Buchenwald concentration camp. Intense and awful and enlightening at the same time.
