  1. HI Bulinna,

The Nikon D50 is a good camera for a beginner / hobby shooter.  I am thinking a photographer would not be choosing one of the entry level DLSR digital cameras.   But it is a good choice for someone wanting to get into photography... learn the basics .... have fun shooting :)).

It is older, but so what? At one time it WAS the new thing and now manufacturers have to keep popping the new models out to continue with this multi-billion $$$ business.   And the more they pop out,  the cheaper built they become... all plasticy and lightweight.

If you have found a nice Nikon D50 and the price is right for you...  Go for it.  Nikon is a good brand, well respected and built well because if you decide to go with the NEW model now.... it will be the OLD model by Xmas time.   That is the way of this disposable world.  :(

    Thank you for reading.

  2. yes I think the D50 is a good camera, since I have one. I bought it just before it went obsolete. You can pick up a gently used one on CL or EBAY pretty cheap these days. My modelmayhem shots were all done on a D50, but like photoace said, it doesn't necessarily show you anything about the camera, more about the photographer, maybe the lighting.

  3. It is a little old, but is still a very good camera.  Its replacement is the D90 ($999)

Showing you photos using this or any camera will only show you how good the photographers technique is, not how well the cameras performs.

This should explain this concept better than anyone can typing a long answer here.
