  1. NO. 3 MB for £18 isnt worth it. Go for SKY broadband or orange.

  2. No NTL are really bad, they give c**p service, and if you do not pay your bills your phone line gets cut off and this raises safety issues, no wonder NTL went out of business

if you want a good ISP then go for talk talk Free internet and it is very reliable

  3. no i had ntl and got rid, if you go 1 day past your payment date they switch you off.and then have to wait days before they switch it back on once paid.

i got free sky broadband instead, its completly free.

  4. Everyone can have their own opinion on this type of question, so all people can 'really' give you is their experience with the provider.

I've had Virgin Media for 18 months. For the first year it was ok. Not brilliant, not poor. for the last 6 months, I've been onto customer services maybe 10 times. I've found for me, that their billing and ideas of billing are geared to suit themselves. One CS representative will tell you it's all fine and do this, not that -> then the next bill will come along, different CS rep who says the first one was wrong, then someone who doesn't know rear from elbow...so, it's all down to location I've found.

The area I am in has the earlier "version" of cable, and the fibre is not as it should be, so there's allegedly a reasonable amount of "works" going on. In the meantime, I can no longer connect to work, which means I lose £290-00 per week I cannot connect when I need to, and my so called 20Mb connection is everything from 400kb to 17Mb.

    My answer: No

    So far anyway.

Oh, and I work in the field of communications and PC's/Servers and so forth, so when I call them, I quote their script before they start wasting my time. That way, I have an engineer booked in 5 minutes rather than wasting 45 minutes rebooting, and following instructions. The script is good for some, yes - but is certainly not good for others.

Yes, cable is "allegedly" faster than ADSL. I say allegedly because mine certainly isn't. From a technical viewpoint though, fibre takes DSL in any fight with relative ease. Fibre is indeed faster.

Again, this is down purely to experience. If you find that you are not getting what you should, you have a month or something to pull out under the consumer rights act etc etc. So, why not give it a test run. You might have 14 years of good luck...

  5. NTL and Telewest and Virgin.net do not trade under those names now. It all came under Virgin Media in February 2007.

To get the cable broadband you have to live in a cabled street. Regarding the TV I've had it for 14 years without any problem. I've had cable BB since it first came on line and have never had any problem with it. A lot faster than ADSL and doesn't use telephone exchanges or telephone copper cabling. It's a dedicated system and not used by any other ISP.

  6. yes

  7. I'm using NTL services for more then 2 years now and can earnestly say that they services have improved ( have Ultra Broadband 20MB/S speed and no download caps ) , digital tv ain't to bad ether , don't no about phone services haven't used them . But still from time to time I have to contact costumers services ( there are few tricks how to make them solve your problem faster - ask for costumers support manager , ask for PR phone number and contact them , always remind them that you pay for services )
