Is NZD to become a new AUS state?

I heard a rumour that NZ is to become a new AUS state. What are the details on this? Is it true??

Absolutely not.

The New Zealanders are as proud of their country as Australians are of theirs.   Our intense competition and friendly rivalry with each other would definitely put paid to that.  There is about as much chance of New Zealand joining up with Australia as there is of Canada joining the USA.  h**l will freeze over first I reckon.     It's not that we hate each other, we  just do things differently.    For instance, New Zealand banned US nuclear ships from all their ports and are very green conscious.   Australia will let any US ship, nuclear or otherwise.    We are lot friendlier to the Americans than we probably should be (considering how their government treats us usually).  So nope, we will just be best buddies for now.

NZ'ers would never want to, so it certainly won't happen, even though the countries have a great deal in common. I'm sure Aussies would welcome them if they wanted to though. We may one day at least share a currency.

That's only a joke.  People say that because there are so many Kiwis here and because people from both countries can move freely between the two...usually from NZ to here...

The gap between the two countries is actually widening, (not the physical gap), so much so, that the New Zealanders are not even automatically entitled to Australian Centrelink benefits anymore.

The last time this was "seriously" discussed was about 1898, when they considered joining the proposed Australian Federation.

I hope so because they pretty much have invaded Eastern Australia so if they love us Ozzie's so much they should be forced to become a state of Oz remember Kiwis. You cant have the best of both worlds living hear on centerlink benefits so yes they should become our newest state.

I doubt it. New Zealanders are proud of their country. I hear this story every few years, it never happens.

simple answer no, this will never happen they are two seperate very different countries with A LOT of ocean between them - to be specific the distance between wellington NZ and Sydney australia is 2218km (1378 miles).

They both have too much going for them as independent nations.

Do you ever think Canada would become a state of America? its certainly a lot closer to its neighbour!

The country of new zealand wont become part of Australia, It wont have to beacause all of the kiwis are moving here anyway!
